Just moved to NY with my 2 chihuahuas, who are quite nervous with strangers and had never had a dog walker before, but Joseph is the absolute best and made the process easier than I ever could’ve imagined! He is amazing with them, incredibly communicative and reliable, and I truly can’t picture how we could’ve been able to make this move without having him. Couldn’t recommend Canine Starr more highly!

I’m so glad I found Joseph! I was looking for a trainer that could also walk my dog while I’m at work and keep up training. Joseph was a perfect fit! You can tell he really knows his stuff and has a huge love for dogs. My dog, Frankie, has anxiety on walks and used to lunge and bark at other dogs. Since working with Joseph, Frankie has become so much more confident and calm on walks. I sometimes have a weird work schedule but Joseph is always so accommodating and I know I can count on him! I also love that he always sends cute pics of Frankie while I’m at work, it really brightens the day!

I came upon Canine Starr after I got my first pup and wanted to work on fundamental groundwork. A good friend of mine worked with him in the past and only sang high praises after working with him. (Bonus points: he is local!)Joseph is very professional, and it’s evident that he has a strong passion for dogs. Working with him helped me build a strong relationship with my dog. He is was very communicative and patient with me throughout the entire process.I have nothing but good experience working with Joseph, so much so that I called on his service a second time after my dog entered his terrible twos era.

I cant say enough wonderful things about Joseph and Canine Starr! My dog Lennon is reactive towards other dogs and just needed a little more obedience when outside in the world. Joseph set me us up for success from the very first (free) phone consultation. He listened to my needs and came up with a plan that works for myself and my dog. He came with equipment and treats to every session, and one time even brought his own dog to work on reactivity. Felt like I could ask any questions I had, and never felt uncomfortable when handling my dog. Hes got a magic touch and a passion for animals. Dont hesitate, the most flexible and understanding trainer is right here!

My dog Zissou, a 4 years old Doberman pincher grew up during the Covid lockdown and best part of the pandemic. He obviously wasn’t socialized properly and didn’t know what a busy Brooklyn street looked like, walking him was very challenging once things came back to “normal”; He was reactive and lacked confidence, until we met Joseph, he has taught us how to curve reactivity and reinforce obedience through treat training and e-collar.Nowadays Zissou is capable of having a relaxed walk, come in with me into stores and patiently waits while I enjoy a coffee outside.Joseph is a game changer! Professional, reliable and very knowledgeable. 1000% recommend.

See a tremendous difference with my dog Kai (mini schnauzer) in just TWO lessons – We have leash walking issues(constant pulling)!Joseph is a great trainer who will help you try to get to the root of your trouble areas with your dog and give you options for what you can do. In a lesson, you will be hands on with your dog and he will help guide and show examples with you, which is what I was looking for since most of the training will be on my own. Kai and I already have a better relationship now. Definitely recommend!!

I used to work as a dog walker in the neighborhood until I got a corporate job and am now working from home. Because of my experience I never felt the need for a dog walker for my own dog, but I have been fairly busy and Joseph has been a God-send in terms of his flexibility and his care for my dog.I have a 9yo Border Collie who needs extra exercise. Unlike other dog walkers, Joseph will take the time to cater the walk to your dogs needs - mine loves playing fetch, not so much walking, so he spends the walk doing something my dog likes that engages him.I would highly recommend Joseph to anyone looking for a more personable touch with their dog walkers. Joseph is always on time, professional, and great with the dogs. Most of the time, he keeps my pup out for longer than what I pay for him, which I greatly appreciate.

Joe has been great. He was immensely helpful and flexible and trustworthy. He walks our ~4mo old puppy twice a day on days when we have to be in the office and has been so patient and reliable with her. Had a great time working with Joe! We called him to help work with some urgent issues for a newly adopted rescue dog and he responded super quickly and came and helped the next day. Very friendly and polite and was extremely effective with our dog. Looking forward to working with him again.

Every aspect of working with Joseph was an excellent experience. Our rescue dog Tony has struggled with separation anxiety since we adopted him, and worsened when we welcome our baby boy this past year. Joseph demonstrated several methods and techniques to help with Tony’s anxiety and to get him to be more confident. Joseph always communicated with us clearly and was very patient with all our questions. We are very pleased with Tony’s improvement and so glad we found Joseph in our neighborhood!

In just three training sessions with Joseph, my reactive, nervous and aggressive rescue dog immediately showed signs of obedience, calm and confidence. Through drills, activities, and helpful suggestions, Joseph helped my dog to resist growling, walk by my side, and listen to my commands.
