We have absolutely loved working with Robert and Dogboy NYC. We find each session extremely helpful and we always leave with things we can work on with our dog between sessions. The work we have done with Dogboy NYC has significantly impacted our lives for the better and I could not be more grateful for all of Robertās help. Frank is a work in progress but is prepped with the necessary tools to become a big brother very shortly. Highly recommend for any of your training needs!! -

Robert is an exceptional dog trainer. Five stars feels Inadequate- I would give him 100. We are first time dog owners dealing with a complicated puppy who was deemed by veterinary behaviorists to have fear-based aggression, and as such, to be a candidate for āhumane euthanization.ā Robert immediately understood the nuances of our puppyās triggers and helped us learn to successfully navigate them. His knowledge, skill and confidence empowered us to work through what felt like a hopeless situation. I cannot recommend Robert (and his puppy socialization classes) highly enough. He has been a godsend. -

When I got my senior rescue dog two years ago, she was new to nyc and fearful of other dogs - Robert helped us so much to get her on a path to being the (mostly) well-adjusted city dog that she is now. She has the confidence to meet dogs and people successfully and navigate city life, and has several dog friends. Thank you!! -

I highly recommend Dogboy NYC to anyone who is serious about tackling any of their dogās behavioral issues. Robert is an extremely experienced certified canine professional who works with you patiently and compassionately to help understand your dogās needs. He looks at things from a holistic perspective, even helping us identify that our dogās severe anxiety could be linked to an ongoing GI issue and thus leading to a very helpful diagnosis that we otherwise would have missed. Thanks to Robertās careful attention to detail and creatively tailored approach to behavioral training, we have a much happier, healthier and increasingly confident dog today! -

It takes a village to raise a dog! We were fortunate to contact Robert at Dogboy to start our training when we brought our rescue puppy home at eight weeks old. He is worth the wait! Robert is more than just a trainer; the philosophy at Dogboy helps you build a strong relationship with your dog, making training a part of your lifestyle. The puppy social class at Wag Club also provided valuable insights into dog body language. We are grateful to continue learning and raising our puppy with Dogboy! -

Robert is the best dog trainer in New York City! Robert and his team are easy to work with and great at communicating schedules. I was on a waitlist and I received notification letting me know that they were able to squeeze me in and work with my schedule. Robert helped me with my rescue dog , Maple, who tends to be more agressive while being on a leash. I had 5 sessions with Robert and now my dog is more well behaved and disciplined. I highly recommend working with Robert and his team! -

Weve had such a wonderful experience with Robert. Our pup is great but he definitely has some reactivity issues when leashed. Robert has really helped us work with our pup in a reasonable way that can applied on our own. We are currently working not only on leash training but also recall so we can do more off leash with him.Robert is very patient with us and our dog and we cant recommend him enough. -

Through just a few sessions with Robert, my wife and I have already noticed a positive difference with our 5 year old mini-goldendoodle Louie. We sought out Robert to help us with a few minor behavioral issues with Louie that became exacerbated when we welcomed a new human baby sister into the house. Robert immediately picked up on Louies behavioral items and quickly got to work teaching us how to curb the behavior while understanding why the behavior was happening as well. Would highly recommend working with Robert and Dogboy! -
Review 10 (2024-06-23 - Rating: 5)
Robert and his Dogboy NYC team are amazing!! Worth every penny! Ive felt a bit hopeless since rescuing my dog Sushi as she is reactive and lunges and growls at every dog in our 30% dog community. While his colleague worked on training her with a muzzle, Robert provided me with incredible tips on how I can change my physical and verbal reactions to her behavior to show her were a team. I saw positive results instantly and left the house to walk her the next day so much more confident. -

Rob has been so helpful in addressing our dogs reactivity to other dogs and noises! His advice was effective and manageable, and we could see improvement rather quickly. Plus, Tuna loves him! -

We have had great experiences working with Dogboy NYC, including an agility training group class and individual sessions. Robert is super down to earth and explains everything he does and recommends simply and makes sure its all clear and understandable. He packs a 1 hour session full of instruction, theory, and hands on training. Highly highly recommend! -
Review 13 (2022-07-10 - Rating: 5)
I highly recommend Robert as a dog trainer. Last year, he worked with me to better manage my dogās intense separation anxiety. I couldnāt even go out to throw away the trash without coming back to find her panting and crying. Now Iām reliably able to leave her home alone for several hours without coming back to find her distressed. Robert provided practical strategies for me to implement that achieved our goals, including chapters from training books. It took a lot of intense and consistent work, but I saw results quickly. I have a new appreciation for and a better understanding of dog training. Iām so grateful to Robert for helping me and my dog. Happy doggo photo included. -

My husband and I are expecting our first baby and were really eager to make sure our 14-month old pup would adjust well to the new addition. I asked around for a recommendation for a trainer and was told over and over to call Rob at Dogboy. I am so glad I did! From our first exchange of emails, Rob was friendly, thorough, and totally understood what I was looking to do. He adapted his lessons to our needs and our dogs personality, giving us some ideas of what its like to bring a new baby home (from his own experience) and taking a lot of care with her when she needed it. After three sessions Im feeling confident that my husband and I have the tools we need to make sure the transition is as smooth as possible and that shes set up to make a great big sister :)Thanks Rob!! -

We had concerns about our new puppy because he was timid and extremely nervous when we got him. He had some major anxiety issues. Robert is an exceptional trainer, heās been incredibly patient with Cooper and has completely transformed our puppy into the life of the party. We now receive numerous compliments on how social and well-behaved he is. The progress hes made is remarkable and he continues to improve each week. Dont let the waitlist deter you; it moves quickly. We found training slots available every week. I highly recommend Robertāhes truly a gem. We feel fortunate to have found him. -
Review 17 (2021-01-23 - Rating: 5)
My husband and I have owned dogs before, but never a puppy. We had no idea what we were in for. At the recommendation of our neighbor, and after a very poor experience with another trainer, we contacted Dogboy. Within the first few minutes of our first visit with Robert, my husband, myself and our pup McQueen knew we found the right fit. Robert is great, not only did he work closely and well with McQueen but also listened and answered the questions we had, which was very important to us as first time puppy owners. Robert and the entire Dogboy organization are very easy to work with, very good with puppy handling and very good with instructions for first time puppy owners. We have and will continue to recommend Dogboy to anyone. -
Review 18 (2023-06-13 - Rating: 5)
Believe the 5-star reviews⦠Robert is THAT good.My partner and I had been working hard on training Winnie since we adopted her 8 months ago. We enrolled her in 10 weeks of group training classes, read the Zak George books, and watched countless YouTube videos. While they were all helpful in certain areas, nothing we were doing stopped Winnie from play-biting, pulling our clothes, and jumping on us when greeting us. Waking up in the morning or coming home from work had turned into a stressful occasion in which weād have to hide in the bathroom. After just one session with Robert, and a couple days of practicing his techniques, Winnie has stopped these behaviors entirely. After our second session, we can say that weāre also more confident/comfortable on walks with Winnie, as her ground-grazing and pulling have decreased significantly. If youāre on the fence about where to invest your budget for training, we canāt recommend Robert enough. The results have been astonishing. -
Review 19 (2024-04-22 - Rating: 5)
We started training sessions with Robert a few weeks now, and weāre really enjoying his positive and gentle approach to training. Each session is a great learning opportunity, which keeps us motivated to practice in between.Additionally, the Dogboy team is lovely and really efficient with the waitlist process. We were pleasantly surprised by how quickly we were able to secure a session as spots became available.Thank you! š¶ -

Rob is a fantastic trainer. He covers all the basics and works with you to come up with solutions to behavior issues that are specific to your family, the layout of your home, and fit in with your daily life. Rob is extremely patient, reliable, and makes training exercises fun for the dog. Donāt let the long lead time to book sessions worry you- just request a spot on the waitlist - it moves very fast- sometimes weāre offered multiple sessions in a single week. Highly recommend! -
Review 22 (2024-01-27 - Rating: 5)
I genuinely canāt say enough good things about Rob or sufficiently express my gratitude. We have a rescue who is wonderful but leash reactive, and since we started working with Rob, walks are no longer the most anxious points of the day. Were also successfully working through things like drop it, leave it, and resource guarding that we had kind of given up on. He has helped us to understand our pup much better, has an incredible wealth of knowledge on canine behaviour , and and we will be booking more sessions. If you want to create lasting results and have a better relationship with your dog, hes your guy. -
Review 23 (2024-03-26 - Rating: 5)
Robert is in a class by himself when it comes to training and behavioral issues for dogs. He brings a wealth of knowledge, patience and genuine interest in the dog he is working with. Iāve worked with him twice now for my ball-aggression Frenchie and years later when I added a second dog. He helped me understand and decode what my dogsā behavior was telling about their mental state and go from there on the behavior. It is truly a holistic approach that works. Highly recommend him and his team. -
Review 24 (2024-01-28 - Rating: 5)
Do you and your dog a favor and take a lesson with Rob. His level of knowledge and experience is very impressive and he has a fantastic ability to explain complex concepts in easy to understand analogies. This is not an exaggeration or hyperbole, working with Rob has changed the relationship I have with my dog which has led to an overall improvement in my day to day life. For context myself and my wife rescued a hound mix called Willow who came with some baggage. She was intensely leash reactive, barking and wanting to fight any dog she could see on a walk. She also had some resource guarding problems and would constantly bark at anyone who came into our apartment. Rob was able to break down why Willow was having those reactions and identify ways we could reduce the chance of a negative reaction and replace it will a good one. Bacon, chicken and cheese sticks work wonders. After giving 2-3 simple training exercises to start inputting the right responses into Willow, Rob would add light touches and changes to build on Willows improvements. It is still amazing the progress we have been able to have in one month. We bought a 5 lesson package and we will be buying another 5. If you are looking to train out some bad behaviors or input some good ones you cannot go wrong with Rob. He is very open, friendly, comes with lots of great stories and he is an excellent teacher. Even if you are on the fence, send him an email. We wrote one prior to buying our package detailing our issues and received a long a detailed reply with different suggestions of what we could work on with a trainer. Thank you Rob, we really appreciate all the help you have given us! -

We asked Robert for help with an abandoned pitbull that we were fostering. While his schedule was completely booked, Robert found the time on his day off to spend time with us. He had immediate impact with our foster and trained us on what to do in certain situations where she exhibited reactive behavior on leash. Overall I found Robert to be patient, firm, effective and a compassionate advocate for all involved! Highly recommend! -

Robert and the team at Dogboy are amazing. We have been working with them for a while and weve seen such an incredible turnaround with our dog. We plan on keeping up with it as well because we see the benefits almost immediately. Best dog trainers weve ever experienced! -
Review 27 (2023-12-09 - Rating: 5)
We are first time puppy parents and take training pretty seriously, we think itās the best way for us to give our dog its best life and maximum freedom. One of our biggest challenges was leash walking our 3 month old puppy. Rob, after just one session trained US on how to correctly walk our dog, the right techniques, how to positively reinforce, and how to set our pup up for success. It made a huge difference, and walks have been much better. Rarely any pulling, which makes our walks fun, longer, and a much better bonding experience for us and our puppy. -
Review 28 (2024-01-12 - Rating: 5)
The Dogboy NYC team has been so fantastic helping us train and build confidence for our shy puppy. Robert is such a knowledgeable and patient trainer, and has been so helpful breaking down training techniques and walking us through real life training scenarios out on the street. In just a few sessions, weāve seen our puppy become more confident and less fearful, and established a much easier and enjoyable leash routine. His training style feels very tailored to specific questions and concerns, and the sessions are always intentional and engaging. The team is super flexible, and weāve been able to move our sessions up to meet earlier through a fast moving waitlist system and clear communication, so donāt be discouraged if the calendar appears booked up for weeks! The longest weāve had to wait to come off the waitlist has been less than one week. Canāt recommend Dogboy NYC strongly enough! -

Me and my puppy Fuji enjoyed learning there.Robert was such a great! He asked us each dog about how they are doing and then gave us advices. Each dog is different behaviors so itās great ! Also the class was only three puppies. So we had a great experience! Now I do training Fuji at home. It helps a lots. I highly recommend. -

I have a 11.5 month year old Shiba Inu and boy is he a goofball and handful!I knew I needed help training him as a pup, so we signed up for 3 consultations from the first week I brought him home at 3 months! Jacklyn was our trainer then and we worked on basic commands and majority on separation anxiety because he would scream for hours being left alone or crated/gated alone. Then sadly Jacklyn moved but I hear she offers online consultations! We love Jacklyn!Eventually we signed up for Basic Manners and Intro to Agility at WAG Club, which is taught by Robert from Dogboy. We loved all the classes and Robert gave us one off tips based on the different levels each dog was at! Of course, then I signed us up for private sessions with Robert continuing our work with Ghim on leash training, over excitability with other dogs and recall. We love the whole crew at Dogboy and hope to continue growing with them. Thank you to Jacklyn, Robert and Kim for always supporting our journey! If youre invested in your pup, I cannot rave enough about this small group. -

We are beyond grateful for having found Rob to help us with Jane. His dedication and knowledge are impressive and Jane LOVES him. He helped us find solutions to calming our very nervous rescue pup. His techniques worked beautifully and Jane is a much more confident and calm girl. Rob is super cool and takes the time to explain why certain behaviors respond to different commands which helps tremendously when practicing on your own. He is also a wealth of knowledge and was happy to answer questions we had about boarding and nutrition, etc. If you want the best there is, look no further!! -
Review 32 (2023-10-20 - Rating: 5)
My dog, Comet, has all sorts of rescue quirks and can be a bit dramatic with her reactions including jumping, separation anxiety and reactions to loud/new NYC experiences, but drastically improved since working with Dogboy and especially the private lessons with Robert. When we started Comet could barely be left alone and had separation anxiety where I could barely leave an hour without her howling in her crate or trying to get out. Through working with Robert we have not only gotten her comfortable in her crate, but now she has learned to enjoy it and goes in on her own to relax/hangout even when Im home.We have also worked on recall in the last few months as an important emergency skill, which was put to the test by accident in the suburbs when a gate was left open. Comet got out, but came back easily through various commands of Touch and Come, which are also skills Robert has worked with us on to make sure Comet is set up for success as pup in NYC.Dogboy has been great to work with and would recommend to anyone in search of a trainer for their dog especially rescues! -
Review 33 (2021-07-20 - Rating: 5)
Robert has been incredibly helpful with our sweet reactive rescue Daisy. Daisy is dog reactive when on a leash and walks were getting overwhelming. We had done tons of research online and had some virtual training sessions with other trainers, but her reactions were getting progressively worse. We have had five sessions with Robert over six months or so and have seen a HUGE improvement in Daisy. He has given us tools to help us manage her reactions and while she still has reactions toward other dogs, they are so much more manageable and less stressful for all of us. He is great at communicating concepts and helping us understand how her brain is working so we can be better trainers. We will continue to book sessions with Robert to help maintain our progress. We are very grateful to have found him and highly recommend him for any training needs you may have! -
Review 34 (2023-04-29 - Rating: 5)
Robert from Dogboy is fantastic. He is so approachable and fun to be around and has taught my partner and I so many great exercises to do with our anxious dog. We are seeing improvements after a few sessions. Weāve learned so much about how our dogās brain works. -

Our family is on class 2 of 5 in the Puppy Training series, and we are blown away by our pups progress. Shes got great working recall and no longer eats all the gross things off of the sidewalk outside. Shes learning to relax and let her guard down. Just amazing. But the best part is that Roberts approaches feel very achievable and sane. I was nerovous that wed wind up with a ton of neurotic practices and start to look like Parker Posey in Best in Show, but that hasnt been the case at all. Really looking forward to out remaining sessions and all of the progress we make together as a family. -
Review 36 (2023-04-22 - Rating: 5)
We had three sessions with Jacklyn and she was amazing! We are first time dog owners of a golden retriever puppy, and after our sessions we are feeling way more confident and have been able to continue our training by ourselves with ease. Our little guy is now crate trained, potty trained, and following basic commands. Would definitely recommend Dogboy NYC if you can afford it, especially during the period where you are waiting to finish vaccine rounds and cant take your pup to group classes. -
Review 37 (2023-03-16 - Rating: 5)
Robert is an incredible human trainer for dog owners. My wife and I recently adopted a rurally born and raised adolescent rescue. The dog arrived with a great disposition and some training, but needed guidance in managing a diverse NYC experience (so many other dogs, people, places, sidewalk detritus, etc) that we didnt understand how to give. Robert presented very thoughtful and well explained strategies which produced immediately measurable (though sometimes quite small measures- this is not magic!) results.I would encourage anyone who seeks to better understand and improve in the investment of their human/dog relationship to engage this service. -
Review 38 (2021-09-24 - Rating: 5)
Iāve had the best experience with Dogboy NYC! Everyone Iāve worked with, from Robert as a trainer to Kim with scheduling, has been so attentive, responsive and personable. When I adopted my dog, she was extremely anxious, timid and had certain āaggressiveā tendencies when agitated. She would shake anytime she was outside and did not like anyone except for me. Robert was an EXPERT of assessing the situation and arming me with the information and tools I needed for her success. A few months later and she is a different dog! She loves people, gets SO excited when Robert comes over and is so playful and sweet with anyone new. He not only trained my pup, but trained me as well.I really feel as though The Dogboy Team personalized training based on my dogās needs and my needs - it is not one size fit all as you see with many trainers. Dogboy NYC should absolutely be at the top of your list when considering training for your pup! -
Review 39 (2022-12-17 - Rating: 5)
Working with Robert has transformed our relationship with our dog! No more pulling, no more dashing off after squirrels, no more eating garbage off of the street. Being out with our dog is now such a pleasure. Robert is a legit dog whisperer ā and he clearly loves what he does. No prong or shock collars or other torture devices needed to reform a dogās impulse control, only training and repetition. Now, when my elderly mother wants to hold the leash, I donāt worry that our hugely strong pet will pull her off of her feet (as once happened to my giant of a husband before we took Robertās class). We booked a class session with him on the recommendation of a friend from the dog park, and weāre already looking forward to the next set of classes!! Thank you Robert for making us the happiest dog parents with the happiest dog!!! -
Review 40 (2023-06-20 - Rating: 5)
I canāt recommend Robert enough! My husband and I have learned so much from our sessions and have seen noticeable, positive changes in our pupās behaviors and reactions. I love Robertās approach of using repeatable trainings and rewards to instill behavioral changes - all of which have been great with our very food motivated corgi. Booking the sessions with Robert has been one of the best investments weāve made and Iām so glad we were able to find such great, professional service. -

We hired Robert to help us with our dog Whiskeys aggression and anxiety. Whiskey had been showing a lot of fear and anxiety around strangers on the street and in our home. We had 5 sessions with Robert and after each session we felt really great about the tools we were learning and Whiskeys improving behaviour.Robert is a really friendly, confident skilled professional who takes even aggressive dog behaviour in his stride. He knows exactly what a dog does and doesnāt need which really helped us feel comfortable. We learned a lot from Robert and look forward to working with him again in the future for a check in session. -

We took Roberts Basic Obedience class via Wag Club and I could not be any more satisfied with the amount of skill I have gained teaching my pup Keith. Robert definitely has a way with dogs and humans alike! Effortlessly integrates human and dog behaviors. He is a fantastic trainer- patient, kind and knowledgeable. His expertise clearly shows the moment your dog interacts with him. I have found any way I can to recommend Dogboy NYC- such a fantastic investment. Thank you a million times over! -

I have known Robert (aka DogBoy) for over ten years. Most recently he has been training my one year old puppy in preparation for evaluation to become a working therapy dog. Robert is passionate about his craft and clearly has a deep understanding of a dogs mentality and behavior. Our working sessions are fun, creative and full of positive reinforcement. More importantly, Robert gives me the tools to continue the training on my own without feeling overwhelmed. Out of 5 stars, I give him 10. -
Review 45 (2022-01-18 - Rating: 5)
Dogboy has been incredibly helpful in training my exceptionally sweet, smart and stubborn(!) pup. We came to Rob when my pup was 1.5 yrs old, with basic training already under our belt, but needed help with obedience consistency and newly-developed separation anxiety. Not only was Rob able to offer concrete skills, but also insights re: training theory, age-appropriate expectations, and relational bonding. He took time to talk through and understand the idiosyncrasies of my pupās behavior in context, making interventions that much more effective. As a company, Dogboy works hard to accommodate scheduling needs as best as possible. Though at times there can be a lengthy wait to schedule training sessions, itās well worth it! -
Review 46 (2022-04-18 - Rating: 5)
Rob exhibits a kindness and professionalism only rivaled by his humor and way with dogs. Rob started helping us train our 2.5 year old dog, and we could immediately see a difference. The training started the first second that Rob walked into the door by addressing behaviors in the home immediately. His consistency and knowledge of motivations for dogs helps address the root cause of training. Even more so, Rob is very compassionate towards comfort levels with owners and trainings. We had previously lost our dog in an accident, and he is very mindful of keeping our comfort a top priority during training. We cannot recommend DogBoy NYC highly enough! -

Dogboy NYC has been wonderful! Getting an 8 month old belgian shepherd accustomed to NYC is no easy task. Through Roberts training and support we have made so much progress with our pup. Robert made what seemed impossible and daunting ... simple and structured. Our dog is making so much progress and Roberts process has given our dog confidence. Our family definitely recommends Robert to anyone that wants to have a better relationship with their dog and wants to give them a better life! Thank you Dogboy NYC -
Review 48 (2021-07-17 - Rating: 5)
Robert was amazing! He was super informative, helpful, and fun. He gave us the tools & understanding to train our dog outside of the training sessions. We noticed an immediate change in our dog as we implemented his lessons. Even 5 minutes into our first session, we saw a huge improvement. I would strongly recommend him for any dog with any kind of behavioral challenge, no matter how big or small. -
Review 49 (2023-03-17 - Rating: 5)
We were referred to Robert by someone in our dog park who had noticed us trying (unsuccessfully!) to manage some behavior issues with our young, recently adopted dog. He said āhe trains youā and that is exactly how I would describe the experience of working with him. He provides so much context and insight, helping us understand our dog and our role in his life. That understanding has helped us implement his protocols and strategies with almost immediate results. We thought we were addressing a couple of specific behaviors, but really he has given us a foundation for a more productive and rewarding relationship with our dog. Donāt hesitate to book!! -
Review 50 (2020-06-17 - Rating: 5)
I cant say enough good things about Robert and Dogboy! We have completed a handful of virtual sessions and are pleasantly surprised at the progress our puppy, Marlowe, has shown. We were completely frustrated with the usual puppy behavior - biting, barking, jumping, table surfing and in just two virtual sessions Marlowe has vastly improved. Marlowe is a rescue that missed out on her first socialization period, so it was great to have 1 on 1 guidance from Robert that was tailored to her needs. Looking forward to future sessions! -

I cant recommend Dogboy NYC enough. In just 5 visits, our 3 month old pup is acting like a fully trained, grown dog. Rob is incredibly effective with his teaching and training methods, hes offered tips and suggestions that have been highly successful. He and his team are highly responsive, -from booking in appointments, to taking phone calls and offering advice when weve struggled at random times with our pups behavior. His work is a game-changer, easily the best investment for your dog. Cannot say enough great things about the Dogboy NYC team! -

Weve really enjoyed working with Robert to train Luna, our five year-old rescue. When we first brought her home, Luna was scared of everything and lacked trust and confidence. Through training with Robert, weve learned how to better communicate with Luna and build her confidence. After a few months, shes learned basic obedience and is a happy-go-lucky dog, strutting through the city with her tail wagging! We really appreciate that Robert assesses Lunas behavior and progress each step of the way, and provides appropriate guidance and training strategies for her and us. We have found his systematic approach to teaching commands and skills very helpful and easy to follow, even through virtual Zoom sessions. We highly recommend Robert and Dogboy NYC for any dog parent looking for training or behavior modification services! The team is easy to work with, professional, and communicates well. -
Review 53 (2021-04-29 - Rating: 5)
We had our first in-home training session with Robert, and it was even more helpful than we expected. He asked us what questions we had and listened carefully to our answers. In one short hour, he filled us with knowledge and confidence to address the issues we needed help with. Weāve watched many videos and read many books, but itās not the same as watching in person and being able to ask questions about our puppyās unique behaviors. We highly recommend Robert and are excited to continue to learn from him! -

We took a 6-week Basic Obedience class with Robert at Wag Club and it was fantastic! Robert was great at not only showing us the initial commands, but explaining how to practice and reinforce them with our dogs at home and increase the difficulty over time. My dog had fun and she learned a lot, I would definitely take another class/training session with them again! -

Dogboy is worth the wait! I was impatient, I tried other options and then I went to Robert. Donāt make the mistake I did, just book!He is a dog whisperer, exceeded every expectation. His value was demonstrated within 5 minutes of first meeting our dog Syrup. The first session left us so happy. With every session he equips you with the insight and understanding of why your dog behaves certain ways and how we can be effective in our human-dog communication. He is hands on throughout the process. We learned together indoors, on the street, at the park, around other dogs. You put forth the goals and Robert and his team teach you how to reach them and leave you with the tools to be successful. Heās great with kids too, having our daughter learn how to communicate effectively with her dog was as important as us learning. And he taught her some fun tricks too that sheās so proud of doing with Syrup. 100% recommend and will absolutely refer DogBoy and work with them again. Thanks Robert and team! -

We recently started working with Rob for my very friendly and easily excitable puppy who loves to jump on people and walk me down the street. Rob covers a lot in a short span of time and weāve been practicing with the tools he gave us and are already seeing great improvements. After just one session everyone is so impressed with the progress she has made. Weāre both looking forward to our next sessions! -

We brought our pup Swayze to Dogboys basic obedience classes and it was a great experience! Rob is an excellent instructor and he takes time to tailor to your specific dog and work through problem areas. We always get compliments on how well behaved Swayze is and shes only 10 months old - we definitely owe some credit to Dogboy for that! Highly recommend! -

I took the 6 week basic training class with Jackie. Highly recommend!I learned a lot from Jackie about how to train my mastiff puppy. When one approach to learning ādownā didnāt work, she found another that did. And she helped me better understand how to reward the good behaviors and discourage the bad.Update - now getting help from Rob to train a rescue pittbull. Rob is helping me understand how to overcome fears outside and how to use a clicker to learn new commands.Again - highly recommend! -

I adopted my foster dog Tater Tot thinking that with enough research/effort/love I could work through any issues with him on my own. But when increasingly dangerous and unpredictable behaviors started to emerge, we knew we needed help. Each session with Rob has been so fun and illuminating! He knows how dogs work and how to train humans to get through to them. We started dealing with reactivity and by the time our last lesson came around we were learning new tricks. TT is still a fearful dog, but I have better tools to help him now ā¤ļø -

Rob is a fantastic dog trainer with so much knowledge. When we moved from Brooklyn to LI, we were sad that we would have to find another trainer but after 2 years away were back with Rob! Due to COVID, weve been having sessions on Zoom rather than in person but we had a more productive first session with Rob, than all the sessions with other trainers! If you need help with training/behavior adjustment, youll struggle to do better than Rob @ Dogboy NYC -

After working with Robert for only two sessions so far, Iāve noticed a huge change in my dogs behaviour that I didnāt realise were even issues to begin with. After working with the tools Robert has recommended at home, itās filtering out into my dogs behaviour outside of the house. I see so much progression already after two sessions! I would highly recommend working with Robert. -

I adopted a rescue dog, my third, while NYC was still in lockdown. Which meant It was extra stressful when Rolly quickly started showing serious behavioral issuesāfear aggression and separation anxiety, most worryinglyābecause trainers and vets alike were overbooked. By the time my neighbors referred me to Robert, Iād already had one extremely negative encounter with a trainer. Rather than making me feel like public enemy number one, Robert promised he could be a sounding board while I worked to understand my new dog and whether the situation was sustainable for either of us. It hasnāt been easy, but itās been almostā¦fun. (Though probably not for Robert, since heās been dealing with someone whose pandemic pup has her under house arrest.) For me, the very first session was like receiving a batch of chicken soup after being down with a fever for days. And Rolly? He made dramatic improvement on training day one, and heās shown steady improvement over the months since. We can now not only walk past but with another dog. I doubt Rolly would still be with me if not for our sessions with Robertāthank you! -

We are so lucky to have worked with Rob on our boy, Guss anxiety troubles. He helped us understand why he was having fear outside and indoors, what was happening to him when the fear took over, and gave us simple tips to alleviate this for him. He was very relaxed and made us feel the same way. Its a work in progress and it will take time to get him to a better place, but everyday hes a little bit better. We definitely recommend Rob/Dogboy NYC for any behavioral and/or training needs. Gus is also a Dogboy obedience school graduate too! -

We worked with Robert who blew us away. He was so knowledgeable and kind with our dog Teddy. He gave us some very useful and simple training exercises for Teddy to help with his barking at the doorbell. Robert explained why he was having us do each drill and how it will help Teddy. We are already seeing an improvement with Teddy. We would 100% recommend Robert and Dogboy NYC to others.-Teddyās Parents -

Iāve worked with Dogboy NYC with two of our dogs - one an older aussie that we needed help with adjusting to a new baby, and the second one years later when we adopted a rescue border collie with debilitating anxiety. I cannot say enough good things about our experiences with Dogboy NYC. Robert is calm, knowledgeable and immediately connects with dogs - quickly identifying the conditions and triggers causing the issue. With our new baby, now big kid, it was more about training the humans in the house on how to create a positive relationship with dog and kid from day one (they became best friends). With our high anxiety dog, he helped us understand the time, tools, techniques and patience to handle a very challenging situation. She went from shaking and not making eye contact, to being social (even cuddly) with the family, able to take long walks in the city and living a more joyful life. He helped us understand that although she will never be a mellow dog comfortable in a dog park like our previous pooch, she had the potential to be a happy. He taught us how to read her and provided us with the skills to be the consistent and supportive humans she needs to feel safe and happy. Donāt hesitate to work with Robert and his team, you and your dog will be the better for it. -

I cannot recommend Rob (DogBoy) more highly. We had a very timid and anxious rescue join our family (with 3 kids) this Fall. He was a year old, not treat motivated, afraid to eat from his bowl, only partially house broken, and knew no commands. After our first session, Robert worked his magic. He now knows so many commands, eats out of his bowl, and is acting just like a dog! In fact, we had such a wonderful experience that I insisted that my mom, who lives nearby, with a really special 4 year old lab, who at times walks her :) and is terribly afraid of getting into the car, meet with Robert too. After just 3 sessions (and a new leash) my mom has control of the dog even with her friends pass and can get the dog into car herself! We met Robert through a friend who had used Robert with her beloved pup, one of the best trained dogs I know. We are so grateful for his support, his kind way with animals and his incredibly patient and helpful presence. -

We were connected with DogBoy through our vet who recommended Robert and his team for their gentle approach to behavioral training and could not be happier with the results. Robert was very patient and careful in listening to our concerns about our newly adopted 2.5 year old dog and tailored our training sessions to her. He emphasized our own patience in allowing our dog to process commands and requests with appropriate latency and rewarding desired behaviors quickly. He also stressed the importance of responding to unwanted behaviors with the least intrusive, minimally aversive (LIMA) method, which was a good fit for our dog who had traumatic experiences pre-adoption. Over the course of two months with Roberts help, my partner and I became more in tune with our dogs needs and habits, and we were able to help her grow from a quiet and scared rescue into an energetic and curious (and obedient!) companion. We look forward to working with Robert and DogBoy in the future and would recommend them to anyone looking for a truly personalized and well-researched approach to behavior-focused dog training. -

Our family of three is raising a puppy; an Aussiedoodle named Beeps LaRue. Bless her tireless heart, she was [Roberts words] shot out of a cannon and into our lives. Given our experience with two different adult dogs (and keeping one small human alive), we brought confidence, excitement, and blissful ignorance to the whole new world of puppy rearing. We miss dog energy, we said.We are active people, we said.We are a great team, we said.Desperate to socialize our little doggo, we took to the internet and found Dogboys Puppy Socials at Wag Club. Robert (and Jacklyn and the team at WagClub) have created a safe space for not-fully-vaxxed pups to get their beans out, while fraught puppy parents assuage their nerves. The 45 minute sessions were a blast! Part circus, part Puppy Psych 101, Robert answered our many questions with the humor and patience of someone skilled at what they do. We left calm and emboldened. Beeps left over-the-moon.Beeps soon aged-out of Puppy Socials and into the real world. Paws hit the ground and the big, wide world of New York City - with its garbage trucks, electric bikes, and general lunacy - became her reality. With that, new puppy challenges emerged! The previous experiences with our very different dogs revealed to us: we needed the grounding of a single voice that could set us on a path to success. Dogboy seemed like the obvious choice. We already liked and appreciated him!Theres the casual cool that Robert brings as well as the tactics. Like a good therapist, he solicits our big feelings and goals and we then create an action plan. Robert helps us see our pup for all of her spectacular potential when we start to succumb to problem-behavior-blindness.We enjoy Robert the human and we value Robert the behaviorist. We do the work and he brings the guidance. As for Beeps? Shes doing her best, too. -

Before getting my Poochon puppy, Hazelnut, I reached out to Robert at DogBoyNYC to learn the basics of how to avoid separation anxiety and to set up training. So happy I did b/c my girl Hazel came with separation anxiety already wired into her DNA. Our sessions together have been invaluable. From day one we tackled the āeasyā stuff (sit, come, stay, etc) and he built a plan to tackle the tough stuff (separation anxiety). Robert helped me manage the ups and downs of that training, was so encouraging when I felt nothing but discouraged and so patient in working with Hazel to find the unique path that worked best for her. I canāt put into words how grateful I am to have found him or count the number of times Iāve recommended him to strangers on the street when they comment on Hazelnutās calm leash walking and good training. Best decision I made in my puppy experience was getting a trainer in the beginning and so lucky that trainer was Robert and DogBoyNYC! -

As a veterinarian having go to trainers that I know I can trust with my patients is critical. Behavioral problems are the number one reason why pets lose their homes. I know the Dog Boy crew will take the dog parents concerns thoroughly and create a training program that is effective, fun, and allows the dog to become the dog they are suppose to be. Their puppy training programs are a foundation for many puppies to become the dogs they were meant to be. Im so happy to have the Dog Boy team readily available to be the training arm and support for the dogs at The Vet Set. -

We found Dogboy NYC through our local vets recommendation, and signed up for an intro chat with Robert. We were apprehensive about picking the right trainer because wed heard from friends that most who were good with dogs were terrible with people. After a 30 minute zoom call, we were reassured that he didnt fit in that category. He was able to combine a legitimate knowledge for how dogs think and behave with a great knack for explaining and demonstrating. He even pulled his dog at home into the call to show us some examples! Weve now done one on one virtual training, one on one in person training, and puppy play classes with both Robert and Jacklyn. Our puppy Hiro over the last 6 weeks weve had him has learned to sit, stay, touch, fetch, lay down and shake a paw. He also learned to drop whatever was in his mouth on command when Jacklyn was over for a session. She taught him literally in one minute using the most unintuitive method. If we hadnt been wearing masks, she would have seen both my wife and my mouth open in shock! More importantly, Hiro has gone from being the terrified kid hiding behind legs and against the wall in the puppy play sessions to playing happily with dogs two to three times his size. Robert and Jacklyn and the folks at Wag Club do an amazing job pairing the puppies, and working with them to get them comfortable socializing well. They also do a Q&A at the end to help you tackle your biggest challenges with your pup. We cant recommend Dogboy NYC highly enough! Hiro has progressed so much and loves seeing Robert and Jacklyn! -

Robert has been amazing and so helpful. We have a 10 month old mini Aussie that is overexcited/fearful and has a hard time relaxing. Weve worked with Rob multiple times so far and he is a really fantastic person trainer (I say person because 90% of the behavior that needs modification is that of the humans. The dogs behavior change will follow suit). His approach aligns with our values which is based more around positive training instead of punishment-based. Hes deeply empathetic to you and your dog... Even if your dog bites him on the shin bone when they first meet (eep!). He provides a great deal of education and advice, with lots to work on between visits, as well as good reading on behavior modification. Highly recommend. -

Robert has been helping us with our dog PJ over the past year. PJ has leash reactivity and is not great when other people enter our apartment. Robert came to our apartment and gave a ton of great suggestions to help PJ, including trying out a new leash which he had with him. Other dog trainers have focused more on the concepts and simply telling you what you should do, but Robert was adamant that we actually go out and practice what we had been discussing! He also offered up walks with PJ + his dog and other dogs to help diagnose and remedy PJs leash reactivity. This helped us to see firsthand how to to introduce other dogs to PJ and gives us the confidence to do so more often! Hes also been very responsive in terms of scheduling - booking appointments through the site is really quick and easy! -

We have done two training sessions with Robert (Dogboy) so far, and have one more on the calendar. We cant recommend them highly enough! I think the term dog whisperer gets thrown around for dog trainers frequently, but it really is true with Robert. During both sessions, our pretty high-energy rescue bernedoodle started offering up the positive behaviors we were working on without prompting! Robert helped us fix some issues that we had tried to work through with other trainers but hadnt seen any improvement on - and with the new strategies, our pup is doing great. Robert also helps with advice on how to make training long-term and sustainable, all while improving your relationship with your dog. If you are looking for a kind and knowledgeable trainer, look no further and book with Dogboy! -

We cannot recommend Robert of DogBoyNYC highly enough! Robert brings knowledge, humor, and kindness to his training sessions and communicates training strategies in understandable and manageable ways. He takes the time to explain why heās recommending particular strategies, so you can understand not only what works, but why it works. He helped us with two difficult behavioral challenges (leash aggression and isolation anxiety) as well as training the basics (leave it, place, etc.) and was always clear with his instructions, honest in his assessment, and never judgmental. A training session with Robert is like talking to a good friend who just happens to have a deep knowledge of dog psychology. -
