Mike is an incredible trainer and helped us last year with our rescue, Georgia’s, reactivity. He is an excellent teacher to us humans, teaching us not only what to do but why dogs might behave a certain way. He helped us recognize stress in our dog and avoid these situations. His lessons helped Georgia (and us!) become much more confident, especially around other dogs. We cannot thank or recommend Mike enough to other dog parents. We are so grateful and would absolutely work with him again!

Best dog trainer in Brooklyn, hands down! Our rescue dog was so anxious and reactive on the busy streets of Brooklyn before working with Mike. After just a few sessions she is hitting the streets like a puppy champion! Mike has such a brilliant approach to working with dogs and animals and we’ve seen our dog gain so much confidence from working with him. Can’t recommend Mike highly enough!

Jean helped us TREMENDOUSLY with our high prey drive JRT and predation substitution training. She was extremely thoughtful and thorough giving us the tools we needed to train our dog with a positive reinforcement framework. Overall, Jean was really great to work with and wed highly recommend her for any training, but especially with predation substitution training!

Working with Mike was truly the best experience! He has so much knowledge & highly skilled at cascading that to you in a way that makes sense. My dog and I would be totally lost without him and I dont know how I would have gotten my dog adjusted to Brooklyn life without his help. We completed 5 sessions and I will definitely be scheduling more in the future. My dog is pretty nervous, but I think any dog & owner could benefit immensely through working with Mike.

I am so so grateful for Mike, his knowledge, his expertise and his training methods. Ive worked with a trainer about 8 years ago, and it was fine, nothing special. But Mike is in a league of his own!Working with a positive enforcement trainer was so important to my girlfriend and I, and Mike had such fabulous reviews and was very responsive. We adopted a very stressed, scared, and anxious dog who originally came from Texas. So his first week in Brooklyn understandably made him pretty fearful with all the sights, sounds, and smells that he wasnt used to. He was too nervous to go to potty outside and we decided to look for a trainer to help us teach our pup that the outside can be a fun place, not a scary place. It was clear that our dog was potty trained, but he was just too nervous to do his business outdoors.Im not exaggerating when I say that from the moment Mike stepped into our home, we saw a change in our dog. The smallest changes make the biggest difference sometimes, and we couldnt believe how excited our dog was when we went outside with Mike. The day Mike came over for the first time was the last time we had an accident indoors! Even just from that first visit, the tools and tips we had was enough to make our dog less fearful and know that hes safe with us outside.Over the next three sessions, we got so many more tips, tools, and training to help us in day to day, including avoiding any potential reactivity around other dogs while walking outside on leash. After each session, Mike sent a super detailed email with plenty of reference videos, articles, books, etc. that we regularly reference.Id recommend Mike a thousand times over, and already have done so to other friends who have dogs with separation anxiety. He truly cares about the well being of dogs and were forever grateful for everything hes helped us out with!

My 7-month-old mini Dachshund, Pickles, and I have gained valuable insights and skills working with Mike! His humorous approach to addressing dogs behavioral quirks makes training enjoyable and stress-free. Mike is both clear and patient in explaining new techniques. The recap emails, filled with context and additional training resources, are not only useful between sessions but also serve as a handy reference over time. Despite concluding our training sessions with Mike, he equipped us with ample resources to continue addressing Pickles leash reactivity. Would absolutely recommend working with Mike if you have a crazy lil pup!

Mike is skilled dog trainer, even dog whisperer! We have had two dogs, one recently (male golden retriever with lunging/growling behaviors toward larger dogs) under his training; he guided us step-wise through lessons we could do with our dog to improve behaviors and our communication. Mike is clear, thorough in his email notes (i.e. reminders, summary points), has vast experience and gives great assignments. I would highly recommend Mike and know you will be delighted by his work.

I am a huge fan of Mike! Hes been amazing to work with -- we got an adult rescue who was a reactive behavior case and Mike has given us super practical, actionable tips on how to get my dog comfortable, happy, and used to life with us! Mike sends amazing additional resources over email and goes above and beyond in terms of training. Its great to be able to work on my dogs specific needs and address them with him. I cant say enough good things!

Mike helped us with our Bernedoogle puppy for the first few months of having her at home, and he made a world of difference. I havent had a dog in 30 years and my family has never had one, so -our experience in training a city-dog was limited at best. Mike taught us what we needed to know first before moving on to what we wanted to learn. Two years later, and our dog is perfectly well adjusted and has no bad habits. It is without hesitation that I recommend Mike.

Our experience with Mike has been exceptional. We were so impressed with his attention to detail and thorough assessment of our concerns with our dog Enzo. In each hour-long session, he packed a wealth of knowledge that left us amazed at how much we learned. I got recommended to Mike through someone from work and have recommended him to two other people since, he is very knowledgable about dogs and their behaviors and takes the approach of using redirection and positive reinforcement in his training. After 6 sessions of his guidance our 9 month old puppy is much better behaved and we also have a much better understanding of her behaviors, its like night and day! For sure worth it.

Mikes team walked our dog for 5 years in Brooklyn...and our dog is a very difficult one to walk. Never any problems and always there when we needed them. We also did over 6 training sessions with Mike which were very effective, and it literally changed our lives for the better. Highly recommended. Mike Preis is an excellent trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable, consistent in his methods,always professional and punctual and, most importantly a true dog whisperer and lover of all animals. He has a gentle no-punishment approach that has worked wonders with our puppy. He is patient with his clients (canine and human) and he provides very helpful supplemental written materials after each of our sessions. He has guided us on so much more than behavioral issues, and has made terrific recommendations about leashes, harnesses, training treats, crates, bedding, and nutrition. He’s first rate and we highly recommend him.

Mike is an absolute dog whisperer and our dog Oscar completely adores him.We got Oscar when he was only eight weeks old, when we first brought him home we realized how under prepared we were! For the first week or so poor Oscar took a while to adopt to his new surroundings, he wasn’t sleeping very well and we were having trouble getting him to love his crate! In a fit of desperation I googled dog trainers in our neighborhood and thankfully came across Mike!Mike was super reassuring and responsive to my initial email and he was really accommodating with fitting us into his schedule. Since Oscar was still quite young our first few sessions were in our house, he taught us all the basic stuff like recall and the importance of positive reenforcement for good behavior and how to appropriately act when Oscie misbehaved! He had Oscar responding within minutes of working with him- it was really amazing to see! From the offset Oscar loved Mike. We worked with him over approx six sessions, he helped us leash train Oscar and explained the importance of exposing Oscar to lots of different environments to ensure he was well adapted dog. Even now, three years later, if Oscar sees Mike on the street he gets so excited!!Mike is great guy all round, he is so warm and friendly and his passion for dogs and animals is so obvious! He helped us immensely and we loved working with him.

Ive been working with Mike for almost four years at this point. I met him when we got a young rescue dog from the Brooklyn Animal Control Center.The dog was too much to manage and I needed help figuring out some of the basic training aspects. Several years later, that dog is our super chill family pet and were still working with Mike on all kinds of fun tricks that have enhanced the ol canine-human bond!

Mike is absolutely lovely, and was such a godsend for us, as were learning to deal with a high energy puppy. I especially liked how all the practical tips were tied together with a deeper understanding of my dogs general psychology. We did the in-home sessions, and Mike gave us a bunch of invaluable recommendations on how to set up our space. Cant stress how helpful these tips were. Each lesson also came with a very thorough report afterwards reviewing what we learned and how to practice them on our own, as well as video links and toy/feeder recommendations.
