    Dr. Mauro and her staff absolutely set the bar for veterinary care. Daisy is my first dog and honestly I was a highly inexperienced dog mom. I previously had a rabbit and the vet care I received at a different vet made me realize just how great Dr. Mauro and her staff are. We met Dr. Mauro during the midst of Covid protocols over a phone and I knew that she would be taking amazing care of my baby girl. In 2021 Daisy began experiencing some upsetting symptoms and without a hesitation, Dr. Mauro and her staff saw us. Dr. Mauro diagnosed a chicken allergy (I didn’t even know that was possible!) Since then Dr. Mauro has assisted us in other medical emergency’s and preventative care. The feeling of when people know your name when you walk in, is something you no longer see most places. We are forever grateful for Dr. Mauro and her staff. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!

    Took my cat to Southgate Animal Hospital and I cannot tell you how pleased I am! Dr. Muscarello was very professional and gentle with my furry friend. Definitely recommend going to her if you want a kind and well knowledgeable vet! Will be back!

    We always used Southgate Animal Hospital for every pet care need. But today, they had a very delicate issue today. And their compassion was greatly appreciated.

    My dogs hair gets so matted, but they cut it with out leaving any scratches... also for the more aggressive dogs they offer grooming under anesthesia, it seems to be safe. My dog hasnt had any bad reactions and they are always able to do what they have to with no problem, they dont do any special hair cuts from what I can see but they get the job done and my dog looks neat and trimmed. Also they have parking in the back of the building, and a few spots in the front. They are a little pricey grooming under anesthesia is like $300.00, and if the pup needs shots its an extra $150.00 plus. You also leave the dog and pick him/her up when they call or text u.

    Fantastic experience all around... from making the appointment throughout the appointment itself.I needed a new vet for my two senior dogs (13 and 10 years old). The front desk was wonderful & efficient.Doctor Cimetta was very thorough, informative, and caring. The vet techs were great and handled the dogs well. My dogs loved them.I found my new vet!

    Recently switched to this practice and I have absolutely zero complaints. I come in with my dog and baby monthly and never spend more than 20 minutes there. Everyone is so kind, responsive, and helpful. If I bring the stroller inside, someone always offers to either push the stroller or hold the dogs leash. I always leave in a good mood knowing that the dog has been taken care of and that the staff was so nice. Also, Ive never had a veterinarian or staff listen to me and meet my dogs needs so well. I will always recommend this practice!

    THE BEST VET ON LONG ISLAND!! I normally never give reviews to anyone, but this animal hospital truly deserves it! Thank you so much for everything you do for my dog Bentley and for everything you could do for my moms dog Romi. We truly appreciate it! Southgate animal hospital is the way to go! They are not in it for the money, they DO truly care about your pet!

    Weve been going to Southgate Animal Hospital for years now. Our regular vet is Dr. Mauro and she is wonderful. She took the best care of our older dog while he was still around and continues to take wonderful care for our other dog. She loves them as much as we do. The staff is warm and friendly and go above and beyond. We will always recommend Southgate Animal Hospital

    Dr. Mauro and her staff are the BEST!!!!! I brought my 6 week old puppy Brownie in for his first check up and they loved him. Theyre so good that my puppy enjoyed every second of it. They explained everything in depth , answer all my question and concerns and more. The front staff was extremely helpful and making an appointment was a breeze, not to mention theyre prices were reasonable and affordable. I cant wait to continue care with them. Brownie LOVED them!

    Dr Mauro and everyone at South Gate animal hospital helped us make my dogs years with us easy. We adopted a senior dog and only got to spend 2 years with her but they made them 2 quality years. Dr Mauro made every right decision she could for her and fought with us until the end. She was with us when she helped our sweet girl pass on. Everyone from the office came in to give our girl kisses and to say goodbye. I never feared them having my dog. My dog loved them all so dearly and I’m grateful for everything they tried to help us have more time. Walla loved you all. We can’t say thank you enough.

    I had never been there to take my dog for a check up, but when I suddenly had to put my dog to sleep the staff at Southgate was there for me. Very professional and compassionate. They were everything you want and need in that moment all rolled into one. I am very grateful to the for the way they helped my dog pass.

    Dr. Mauro is the best! I’ve taken my dogs here for a year now and she is so great with all of them. My pit bull who once hated the vet now loves going to see Dr. Mauro and all of her friends here at Southgate. Everyone is super friendly and helpful, and genuinely loves helping animals.

    I think this is the best vet on Long Island! I like it that our doctor really loves animals and she is not afraid of our Rottie. She really knows her job too. Dr. Mauro is one smart cookie! The staff is very respectful and helpful. You know when you walk in that your pet is loved and well cared for.

    Dr. Mauro has been taking care of my dogs since I was a child, my parents have been taking our pups here for years. Now as an adult, I take my fury girl Blossom here to! Everyone Ive recommend loves this office including my friends and family. They are the best!❤

    Weve been bringing our animals to Southgate for approximately 6 years now and have had nothing but positive experiences. The staff are always friendly and helpful and we LOVE Dr. Mauro. The passion she brings to her treatment of the animals is admirable and she is very friendly and is more than happy to answer any and all questions we have. I rarely post reviews of products or businesses, but cant recommend this animal hospital enough!

    The best vet Ive ever had! After going to many vets and being unsatisfied with their care I arrived at Dr. Mauros office after a recommendation from a friend. Dr. Mauro and her staff really take the time with your concerns and are so thorough and genuinely care about the well being of my dog. Unlike other vets they also dont take advantage of the fact that most people dont have much medical knowledge to try and make them spend more money unnecessarily. Been going there for years and have never had a bad experience to date! Very thankful for their office.

    Brought my new puppy here 10/2 for her first check up and this place is awesome! Such friendly attentive staff who are super informative and helpful with any questions about anything to do with your pet. The ladies up front are amazing as well as the insanely nice and talented doctor and her vet techs. Would recommend this place to everyone!

    I brought my cat in for dental surgery and everything went well. The staff was very polite and professional from setting up the appointment and then from check-in to check-out. They followed many Covid safety protocols. Dr. Mauro performed successful surgery on my cat and afterwards, she informed me of what took place, next steps, etc. She followed up with me post surgery to check on her patient as well. I would highly recommend Southgate Animal Hospital and Dr. Mauro for any pet who needs good care!

    Weve been using Southgate for our Pitbull and our Lab for years. The doctors have always been kind, caring, and professional. When it came time to put our Tinkerbell down they could not have been more compassionate. They saw her on an emergency basis and allowed our whole family to sit and comfort her as she crossed that rainbow bridge. Thank you to the entire staff.

    Love the vets and staff! We were taking our cat Molly there for many years. She is a Persian who hates to be groomed, cant thank you enough Santa for the great work you do! My girl was difficult but you all made it as stress free as possible. I cant thank everyone enough for all the wonderful things they have done for us! We will not be coming back as we are moving too far away!! I hope we can find a place that is half as good! We wish you all the best!!

    I cannot say enough good things about this place and their wonderful staff. A little while ago, we unexpectedly had to put down our 5-year old cat Parker and the caring, compassion and support, along with detailed information and explanations about his condition we received were unprecedented in my experience. Dr. Mark Betts fast became our favorite veterinarian ever due to his evident compassion along with his professionalism and expertise. I am sorry that I did not get the names of the vet tech and front desk personnel on duty that day, but they were equally amazing in their genuine efforts to help us through this experience as best as possible. We have 4 pets and tried a lot of vets. This clinic is for keeps!

    This place is great the people are very very nice day love animals. They also are have very warm and caring to people. I was expecting a huge bill they were very reasonable with their prices and I am very happy and hopefully my dog will get better he had a severe ear infection and skin infection.     I recently moved to the area and made an appointment for my cat’s checkup. All the staff at Southgate Animal Hospital exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff were so welcoming and the vet tech and doctor were amazing. I definitely feel my cat is in excellent hands and would not hesitate to recommend South Gate Animal Hospital.

    If I can put more then 5 I would. Today I had to put my dog down and it was so hard however the Staff was amazing and when the Dr came into see her her he said yeah I can feel how swollen her lymph nodes are and dont worry I will not charge you for the office dr check up. That meant a lot it showed they were not all about money. I will now bring my other animals there for everything. Thank you for making a hard day go so smooth. You have no idea how much you helped us today with your love & support of our Angel. Thank you all.

    During this new world, it’s comforting knowing there are caring people even under strict COVID protocols. My dog was very sick, and it was hard to make the decision to put her down but I didn’t want her to suffer. I called a few places up to find out prices and how things are being done now, with limited appointments. From the receptionist to the Doctor and staff, they were extremely empathetic and made sure to get her in that day, so she wouldn’t suffer anymore either. They were very professional, stuck to COVID rules but allowed us to be there with her while they put her down. I feel so many people are stressed, overworked and even as much as they want to care, the pandemic has harden them more so. This is the only place where each person was so kind and caring, which made a bad day - a little bit less bad. It’s been two weeks, and I just revived a letter with a heart shaped Decomposable seed paper of wild flowers that we can plant in memory of her. Along was a sweet sympathy letter. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me. Thank you - to the whole staff!

    The vet is wonderful she is great with my dogs, I only wish she would get her own practice because VCA charges an arm a leg, but the pet insurance is very convenient if you have a pet that needs a little extra care!!!! I definitely recommend this veterinarian!!!!

    Truly love Southgate Animal Hospital!The clinic treats all the animals like their own. When you walk into the clinic the staff greets you and your puppy with a HUGE hello. They even know all the puppies by name. I walked in yesterday for a spay and a staff member greeted my puppy and knew her name. Dory is never afraid to walk in because the staff members are so caring and loving.Dr Mauro is truly amazing. DID I mention I live 40 minutes away from the clinic. I would travel hours to make sure my pup has the best care and that is with Dr Mauro!Love you Michelle, thank you for taking such good care of my Dory- looks like you stuck with us ;0)

    We have been using Southgate Animal hospital for the past 30 years. We started with Dr. Winston and we switched to Dr. Mauro when he moved out of state. She cared for our Melody till a week away from her 16th birthday. Always with the best care. We still now use Dr. Mauro for our almost 13 year old Gracie. We have always received the most professional care from all the staff at Southgate.
