Greenfield Animal Hospital has been treating our fur babies now for 10+ years. They’ve helped me navigate sicknesses or situations over the phone multiple times to avoid a visit if needed. The staff is so sweet and kind & tries to accommodate as best as they can. We recently lost our pup & they also handled this with such care and professionalism that we will forever be grateful for. I cant say enough good things about GAH ❤️🐾 -

Outstanding place. Dr Akawi and Dr Hunnicut(only two I have met) are fantastic. They have prescribed drugs when needed, but focus more on the diet and supplementation first to heal your pet. I don’t feel like they are pushing expensive bills at all. Dr Akawi holds a special place. Six other vets said to put my dog down immediately without trying anything. Dr Akawi knew right away my dog had nasal cancer without expensive testing. He called in prescriptions on Labor Day when the office was closed and not only saved my dog, but gave us about 9 months of a non suffering, normal dog when none one said he would like a couple days. I drive over an hour to go there and numerous people I have recommended have had outstanding results by his care that other vets couldn’t solve or diagnose the issue. If it’s end of life care, cancer, your pet isn’t acting right, or just an annual check up you should give these guys a chance. They always take the time to answer my questions, great communicators, don’t feel rushed, and the techs are equally as compassionate. I wouldn’t think of taking my pets anywhere else. Great job guys and these guys say thank you 👍 -

We called Greenfield Animal Hospital for an emergency vet visit while we were on vacation. They were amazing! Even though we were not regular clients, they saw photos of our dog Ranger and knew he needed to be treated right away. They were kind, compassionate, thorough, and very knowledgeable. We just followed up with our regular vet yesterday and she too was so happy to hear how Ranger was treated, and completely agreed with the course of treatment. Thank you Greenfield!! -

My German Shepherd is spoiled when we go to Greenfield Animal Hospital. Everyone is so understanding since my boy is a loud mouth too. So glad we have their personal pet insurance it helps out tremendously and so worth it. 🐾❤️Heres my handsome boy after a Spa day at Greenfield Animal Hospital. -

We had a great experience yet again with Greenfield Animal Hospital so I wanted to share a review. What I most appreciated about our visit was how thorough Dr. Honeycutt was. He took his (valuable) time to thoroughly explain what was going on with our dog. My human doctors arent this thorough. He laid out our options very clearly. The techs were also fantastic, so kind and gentle with our dog. And the reception staff was also amazing, getting us in on super short notice for an urgent matter. Thank you Greenfield Animal Hospital! I plan on switching all of my animals to their care. We had another experience years ago, another urgent matter with a dog who has since passed and they took excellent care of her as well. She needed stitches and sedation, and the cost was also incredibly reasonable considering what needed to be done. Would absolutely recommend. -

We searched several years for a veterinarian we could trust before being recommended to Dr. Akawi! He LISTENS and addresses the problem head on, with no bogus! The staff is friendly and well-educated. I always leave our appointments feeling confident in the care my pets received, and grateful for such a wonderful team at Greenfield. 🐾 -

I lost my little girl today, she was my whole world and after a long battle it was time to let her go, I have lost a couple pets in my life and this was the first time I was at greenfield, it’s not uncommon for vets to loose compassion over years or decades of doing the job. But the love that Dr.Serfis showed to my little girl was very heart warming, I knew she cared and she didn’t even know Stella for a full year. The staff was very patient with me and repeated things several times to me because I was such a hot mess and couldn’t really function. They kindly said what they told me probably 3 or 4 times in the same calm and compassionate tone. Thank you for everything you and your staff have done for my little princess. -

I called for an appointment for my cat Cleo, age 17, as she had been not herself for several days - hiding in the closet, eating very little, and not socializing with us. I was worried that she was close to crossing the rainbow bridge. She was seen that afternoon. The vet and tech were so kind and gentle. A physical exam showed she had lost some weight but nothing else remarkable. The vet recommended blood work, which was done in-house with the results available within minutes. The only result that was out of the ordinary was her white blood cells, showing infection or inflammation. We were offered two courses of action and chose the less radical: an antibiotic and an appetite stimulant, with observation to continue at home and a return if necessary. We went home with Cleo, her meds, and some prescription food. Im happy to say she is doing so much better! Shes eating well and enjoying her special diet, as well as spending time with us again. Shes been going to Greenfield Animal Hospital since we moved here 8 years ago and I wouldnt bring her anywhere else. -

This is the best place to take your beloved animals. They are very thorough, caring and gentle. They take the time to explain everything clearly. All costs are agreed upon up front, so there is no question on how much is owed at the end of your appointment. The facility is always neat, clean and inviting. All my pets go to greenfield animal hospital, they even helped me with my pet duck once. Highly recommended! -

During a Holiday weekend my primary vet was closed & my cat was feeling downright awful from constipation. I took her to the emergency clinic just to had to leave due to extenuating circumstances and was sent south to UVS. I knew I would be there for a while because due to staffing shortages & constipation not being high on the list of urgent emergencies so I called greenfield in a pinch and was able to get an appointment in a little over an hour for her. They Doctor & support staff were very very kind. they took excellent care of my kitty and were fast. The pricing was very reasonable. I am relieved that my kitty is feeling better and did not have the wait the entire weekend feeling so down and out. -

We were camping and from out of state, when we noticed a spot on our dogs leg that was bothering him. We were afraid that it would get infected by the time we got home, so I called Greenfield Animal Hospital and setup an appointment that afternoon. Dr. Hunnicutt and his assistant were wonderful with Scout. Very thorough checking him out and going over details with me on what they were going to do plus going over the medications and the bill. The next day, we got a follow up call to check on how Scout was doing. I recommend Greenfield Animal Hospital. -

Let me start by saying we are new to the Queensbury area and had not yet found a vet who would take on new patients when all this went down. My husband I brought our cat here on a Sunday thinking we were going to have to let him go. Long story, but he had been quite ill and spent 2 nights and 3 days at Upstate Veterinary Hospital in Latham. They took good care of him there, he had a very high fever, fluid in his chest. We were able to bring him home Saturday with meds and told to kept track of his temperature. That night was not good at all and his fever spiked again (which we were told was not a good sign) and he just looked like he was done. Mind you he is also not eating or drinking during this time. The person who answered the phone was so kind and even though they were booked got us in that afternoon. After thinking we would be leaving without our cat, we left with him and now the following Friday he is doing great. Dr. Akawi took the time to examine Dusty, look over his records from Latham, and sent us home with some additional protocols. I can never thank them enough for not just putting him ”down” and collecting our money. Even they were overbooked already they were kind and compassionate and let us know that that day was not the day for Dusty. Thank you thank you! -

I found Greenfield when my parrot dismantled a toy and pierced his cheek with a piece of it. It was an urgent situation on a weekend and we could find no one with a bird expert - until we called Greenfield, where several exotic specialists are employed. They saved my bird. I use them now for my cats, dog, and Guinea pig, and have always had superb experiences. I highly recommend this practice! -

We have been going to them since Dr. Akawi started the practice. They have always been efficient, caring and responsible and we know we can rely on them to do whatever they can to help us regardless of the size of the issue we are having. It can be a question, an emergency visit or the regular visit. They are there and happy to help anyway they can. Also, they are comprehensive on treatment and offer options. The Drs. are always learning and advancing and it can only mean the more options there can be to help in treatment. Plus, they offer grooming and Amanda is so great! Overall, its great to have everything in one place and know they are there for you! Ziggy, Mina and Ollie all thank you for all the love and care!!! -

Ive been going to this hospital with my two dogs and three cats for over ten years, and there is no way I would go anywhere else. Everyone in my family goes there, and loves this animal hospital and the amazing people that work here. Theyre open when other clinics are closed including most holidays. Theyre compassionate and always put the animal first. They are kind and caring and Ive experienced them going above and beyond for my family and our pets more times than I can count. I will recommend Greenfield Animal Hospital to everyone I know who truly loves their pets and wants nothing but the best for them. -

I brought my 20+ year old cat, Seal, to Greenfield Animal Hospital for his final 2 years of care. I was very pleased. We were both treated with kindness and compassion. I believe Seal received the very best care available. After his death, we received a card from the staff. Those details mean a great deal, so when we acquired another cat, Panda, we brought her to Greenfield Animal Hospital.Panda has also received the very best care. Panda came from a less than ideal situation and was flea-infested and needed some compassionate care as well. We are very happy with the care she receives, so much so that we board her with the Greenfield Animal Hospital when we travel. My husband returned unexpectedly on one occasion and found Panda, the only animal boarding at the time, out and playing with the staff. She didnt want to come home!I recommend Greenfield Animal Hospital without hesitation. I have placed 2 of my pets in their care and I would do so with another pet. My pets are cats, but I have no reason to believe they treat dogs or other animals with less care, concern and expertise. They were highly recommended to me by a dog owner. -

Our rabbit needed to be euthanized. It was a Sunday and it felt urgent. We were struggling to find a place nearby that was open and able to take her. When we called this center, they had no open appointments. However, the receptionist spoke to the vet for us to explain the situation. The vet wanted to help. We were able to bring our bunny right away. We barely waited to be seen. The desk staff, the vet tech, and the vet were all extremely kind to our bunny and to us. They used her name and were gentle and loving with her. They wanted her to be as comfortable as possible. They helped us understand the procedure. They even talked with us about our memories of her as she was passing. It was clear to us that these people care deeply for animals and the work that they do. We cant say how much it meant to us to be squeezed in on short notice and to be treated so kindly. We truly cant thank or recommend them enough. -

All the staff at GAH are always so friendly and sincere to us when we bring our dog in. Our dog gets so much anxiety going to the vet and all of the girls (techs/assistants) are so patient with him! I’m a huge fan of Dr. Hunnicutt as well, he really takes his time to introduce himself to our dog to ease his anxiety and is also very thorough during his exams. We really love his approach. Taylor is fantastic as well! She was amazing today when our dog needed blood work and she even said she would accommodate him outside if needed due to his anxiety. GAH has a wonderful team and I highly recommend them to others considering bringing their pets here!! -

This group is amazing! Their hours are terrific, all the vets I have met so far have been wonderful, knowledgeable and very caring! The staff is sweet and caring as well! I had been going here for a year with a new dog when I needed to have our kitty euthanized. The vet was SO Awesome… Even though they had only just met our (21yo) kitty, they treated him like they had known him his whole life! We were surprised with a sympathy card signed by everyone, foot print and tuft of hair! I couldnt say enough good about them! -

Review 29 (2020-10-24 - Rating: 5)
Its very difficult to read the negative reviews on this practice. I have had animals for my entire life, and to be specific, taking them to the vet 23 years myself. I have NEVER encountered a vet more kind, caring and compassionate as Dr. Serfis. She is so kind and everything she does with my animals is with respect for what my husband and l are dealing with, but more importantly, what our animals are dealing with. Dr. Jansen has also been fantastic as she performed hip surgery on my, at the time, 2 year old cat. This was heartbreaking for me and she couldnt have handled it more professionally and caring. I have dealt with many of the staff members including Diana, Becky, Abby, Darian, Jenna, Ashley, Amy, Courtney and a few others that have since moved on. Never once have they treated me with disrespect. I have never had an issue getting an appointment. If you go on the clinic days, you need to be prepared for a wait time as these days are extremely busy for the team. I find it very reassuring that they offer this option to clients as pet care is expensive. I know that the staff also saves animals in emergency situations and these cannot be scheduled. I have compassion for these animals in need of emergency care and would have no problem waiting longer for my appointment for vaccinations or something routine. I will say their prices are a bit more, but with the care we receive, we wouldnt take our pets anywhere else. I drive an hour to see Dr. Serfis and her staff. As for new employees, its very difficult to expect them to know the practice without time and training. I have been a new receptionist before and know how difficult it is to learn something new. I hope this review helps other potential customers or allows unhappy customers to give them a second chance. -

Best experience ever, from the actual care of our pet to the friendliness of staff! We brought in our pet turkey, Princess because she had been attacked by our dog. She had a huge open wound on her back. We were very worried that it was getting infected. We called and they got as an appointment with the avian vet they have, Dr. Florence Jansen the very next day. She was very nice and thorough. She explained that Princess may not make it but that we can try. We were given antibiotics and pain meds for her as well as solution to flush her wound with. The vet techs and everyone else there were so caring and friendly! I honestly cannot even explain how awesome they were!Plus the actual building is extremely nice and clean!I’d recommend this animal hospital to anyone who wants the best care for their pet! -

This past year I had an experience which convinced me that my four legged loved ones are being cared for by the best people for the job. Every employee there are compassionate and live animals, itsobvious the way the animals live them back. Mo the ago they helped out one of our elderly neighbors whos 16 year old dog was in distress. She had tried for 3 hours to reach her own vet ( I was there for last hour) only to receive an answering machine message to call back in 10 minutes , she left her number never to get an a swer and they were open we discovered later. So I called my vet, Greenfield, and they took us right in, without making our elderly neighbor coming herself, she talked to.them.on phone . Once there that dog was made comfortable, examined thoroughly and the vet confirmed what we already knew . Both the techs and the vet cried with us as we all lived that dog in his dying moments. I was touched by their compassion and the followup they did with our neighbor. Thank you , our pets love you 😍 -

I was here a couple of weeks ago with my kitty Carlitos but forgot to leave a review! First of all they were super booked and they were able to squeeze me in, I was so thankful for this. The staff and veterinarian were so friendly and attentive. The Dr took so much time to chat with me, answer my questions and gave me lots of advice how to care for my cat moving forward. Im so used to being rushed in and out of vets, I can barely explain my concerns and they never take the time to really speak with me. They just make me spend a bunch of money on unnecessary tests but the vet here was so honest and knowledgeable! I took my cat to the vet 3 times and he had no improvement. This was the 4th time I took him to a vet for the same issue and now my cat is doing amazing! The prescription the vet recommended worked so incredibly. Thank you so much greenfield animal hospital! Im sure you will be seeing my other kitties in the future! 😸 -

My experience with this vet hospital was fantastic. After taking my 1.5 shiba Inu in for an emergency (sliced his paw open on something outside) we were seen immediately. After finding out he needed stitches, they explained everything beforehand making sure we approved of the procedure. Although we couldn’t go in I felt confident in the care he was receiving. A few hours later we were talking with the veterinarian whose bedside manner was comforting, caring, and patient. Aftercare was explained and we were on our way. We were informed of his condition and the next steps the entire time, the technicians were so sweet and comforting that I couldn’t not write this review. I know in the future, should I ever have an emergency happen again, where to bring my dog. Thank you for taking such great care of my baby, we so appreciate it. -

We live out of New York but our dog got an injury that needed treatment right away. They were able to get us in with a half hour and took amazing care of our dog! They were super friendly and took the time to explain care to us. If we lived here I would have made them our main vet. -

The doctors and staff are so efficient, courteous and just wonderful people. I just moved from this area and I know I am going to have a very difficult time finding a place like this one where I have moved. Dr. Serfis is so knowledgeable and so great with all the animals. Her passion and great personality make it an absolute pleasure to visit the office. I felt so confident when I brought my cat to this office and he would be treated as someone special. The hours are the best you can get anywhere. I just loved this place and will miss everyone so much. -

My parents from out of town were visiting with their Boston Terrier. He had an encounter with a porcupine and ended up with quills in his face and tongue. We called the Greenfield Animal Hospital and they asked how far away we were and said to bring him right in! When we arrived they were extremely friendly and efficient and got our dog in for surgery immediately! They explained all of the fees and provided a very reasonable price for this emergency service! -

I noticed a puncture wound on my cat’s side on a Sunday, and immediately called this place, having previously heard that they’re open on weekends. Although I wasn’t already established here, they got me right in that day. I was very impressed by the staff, the cleanliness and overall comfort of the office, and the care that my cat got. I ended up saving all of the extra money that an emergency clinic would have cost. Although this place is 25 minutes further than my cat’s usual vet, I’ll be switching over to here. The environment and quality of care are definitely worth the drive. -

I have taken my babies to several vets and I can say without a doubt Dr. Ashley Serfis is the best vet we have ever known. We have been taking our 4 dogs to Greenfield Animal Hospital for about a year, they have never been happier or healthier. One of our pups was severely injured in a fight last week and I was so thankful Dr. Serfis was on duty, we made the drive and she took her right in - we thought we might lose her. Her surgery skills are beyond amazing, I was so in awe of what she was able to accomplish. She helped us save our lil Wags and I will forever be grateful to her. The energy she pours into her patients is almost palpable, she is truly gifted and my dogs adore her!!! -

Wonderful all around - Dr. Hunnicutt is fantastic and goes above and beyond for his patients! The only issue I have had was with the individual involved with billing as there have been some unnecessary fees on my account that were resolved when brought to their attention. Regardless, the care at greenfield animal hospital is unlike any other vet I have been to HIGHLY recommend. -

I took my Lady for laser and water rehab. She loved the pool especially. Well, she is a Labrador Retriever. Lady took a downward decline after several weeks. They took her right in and ran blood work and X-rays. Lady has severe hip dysplasia and spinal problems. Her blood work was very concerning to them. Put her on a regime of meds but to no avail. Lady was bleeding internally and for three days was totally lame. We carried her around. She was 14-1/2. On a Sunday I called. They took her right away. The staff and doctors there are so caring, so compassionate. It was decided that the best decision would be to send her to Rainbow Bridge. I will be forever eternally grateful that they allowed John and I to be with her to the end. We held her, kissed her and loved her. RIP my Lady. You will be forever loved and missed. 💔🐾🐕🦺 -

I had a last minute problem with my new puppy on a Saturday. They were the only vet out of at least 30 that we called that helped us. They were completely booked but they squeezed us in anyways. They spent almost an hour trying to figure out how help me with a health form to fly. (The state departments are closed on the weekends so they had to wait until Monday) but they still tried. When they couldn’t contact the department (To no fault of their own) they told me they wouldn’t charge us anything! I will definitely be bringing my dogs here. Dr. Hunnicutt came out and talked to us for a good 15 minutes even though he was extremely busy. I’m so very thankful! -

Greenfield Animal Hospital. In a word, Unbelievable! Dr. Ashley A. Serfis is the kindest and the most dedicated to animals and owners that I have ever met. Truly caring and obviously knows what she it doing. Dr. James Desir also a fine example of what a vet should be. And also very caring and dedicated. They both are obviously passionate about the care they provide to your beloved pet. They go above and beyond anything I have ever seen in the world of medical pet care. I truly get the impression that the staff of Greenfield Animal Hospital love animals, and give it their all, and provide excellent care, and dedicated service, They are so kind. I am obviously very impressed. Again, unbelievable and beyond! -

Last year visiting my son who lives in the area, we thought our dog had been bitten by a tick and took him to Greenfield. The actual hospital is decorated fashionably but what I loved is the cleanliness. The staff and drs are very helpful and and friendly. We actually went back this year for his annual exam and shots. -

Our beloved Doberman, Gunther, fell ill very suddenly on July 29, 2014. My husband had read about the Greenfield Animal Hospital and wanted to take him there as he said he had a good feeling about the place. We rushed him there and they took us in before they were even open. Dr. Frank J. Akawi , was the vet on call that early morning. The whole experience was meant to be, as we had no idea that we would never have our beautiful dog with us again. Gunther was so sick and Dr. Akawi new right away that he needed medical attention. My husband no sooner laid Gunther on the x-ray table when he went into cardiac arrest, and his lungs, which were filled with fluid, was released. Dr. and his three techs performed emergency CPR to revive him. It all happened so fast that we are still in shock as I write this review. Dr. Akawi, was so wonderful to us after our tragic loss. (Three weeks earlier we lost our sweet peek-a-poo, 15 years of old age.) So my husband and I were still grieving when Gunther died. He took his time explaining the x-rays, blood tests to us. He was the most compassionate vet we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He will be our vet after we get our new pup. Needless to say, Greenfield Animal Hospital is THE place to take your pet for top notch quality care! Everyone was so great. Thank you all for making a sad and horrific experience tolerable. Many Blessings , Toby and Anne Marie Boyea -

Greenfield Animal Hospital has been our pugs favorite place to be besides in their dog beds, on our laps, or at their food bowls! Everyone you will encounter there are the kindest, most compassionate people you could ever dream to care for your pet. My story: Almost three years ago our then 10 year old pug was exhibiting odd symptoms of hindquarter weakness and uncoordinated gait. Our former vet examined her, diagnosed a rapidly progressive neurological disorder, and gave a very bleak prognosis. She even gave me her phone number in case our pug did not make it through the weekend! I was shocked and devastated. A cousin in Buffalo told me about a pet accupuncturist who had helped her dog after a back injury...maybe accupuncture could help our Molly? Serendipitously, the very next morning there was a full page feature story in the paper about Dr. Akawis practice and how he had helped a paralyzed dog to walk again. I called and was given an appointment for the next day, a Sunday! Our other, then 11 year old pug, Walter, was being treated for advanced arthritis, so I brought her along for the ride. From the moment Walter and Molly walked in the door they somehow sensed this was a place of calm and safety. Their usual behavior of shaking, whimpering and fear of the vets office was replaced with wagging tails, excited running in circles, and happy yipping. How could they sense this right away?? The office seemed more a spa then a medical office. From the first consultation and treatments that day I have observed nothing but compassion, professionalism and dedication from everyone who has helped us - from Dr. Akawi and Dr. Serfis, to every technician in the office, to Becky and the reception staff. I was given hope for Molly, and both our pugs received great comfort with the positive effects of their accupuncture trratments. Each treatment and herbal supplement is tailored to their individual symptoms, and the dogs are calm throughout....they even sleep through the 1/2 hour the needles are in place. Molly, almost 3 years later, is doing amazingly. The neurological progression has been kept at bay, and her drunken sailor gait has just become part of her personality...her nerve reflexes have become stronger and she has regained strength as she runs, plays, climbs stairs, and even jumps in the car by herself....especially when she knows shes going to the vets! As a result of Walters coming along for the ride her arthritis discomfort was eased, and she stayed energetic and playful for another year. The next year she began exhibiting some puzzling symptoms, which sadly eventually pointed to a brain tumor. As her symptoms progressed, the accupuncture kept her calm and pain free, each treatment giving her a boost of energy and activity. I will always be grateful for the palliative care she received....no unnecessary tests if you decide not to....and she was able to enjoy her days in the comfort of our home. Our sweet Walter, 13-1/2 years old, passed peacefully in her sleep in her own bed last March. When I brought our grieving Molly in a few days later we were met with such compassion and love by everyone - they gave me all the time I needed to talk and cry through my grief. We even received hand written messages from the entire office in a sympathy card. Molly has since recovered from her grief and confusion (yes, pets grieve, too!) with the help of targeted calming points in her accupuncture. She remains strong and happy, soon to turn 13 on St. Patricks Day! I travel 45 minutes from Latham to Greenfield Center for our appts and would never hesitate to make that drive. As soon as I exit 13-N off the Northway Molly lifts her head and sniffs and knows were near. Shes on her feet and looking out the window, barking with excitement. She strains to jump out the car when we arrive, drags ME inside, and starts barking as soon as were in the office. I hear, Mollys here!, and for the next hour shes in her glory. I most highly (obviously) recommend Greenfield Animal Hospital for your pets. I thank and love them all. -

About six years ago my beagle Grace was suffering from severe skin allergies. After several attempts at controlling the issue, I found Dr. Akawi. We started with a period of treatment with acupuncture, alternate therapy with herbs, and also with occasional western medicine consisting of antibiotics when a flare up occurred. My Grace lived in comfort for another four years until the age of 17 1/2 and the staff at theGreenfield Animal Hospital were with me the entire way. Frank Akawi is the best and so are his staff. -

Kind courteous and caring people who treat you and your fur children with kindness andcompassion I couldent ask for better people to care for my animals. Thankyou for your hard work and dedication to your clients. Ive been to other places in the area that wernt so kind especially to my Gracie who was dying of cancer if I could have taken her here instead of the awful emergency vet I would have. Thankyou ❤🐈⬛🐈🥰 -

I was not a client if GAH but after my experience with them today, they’ve made a client for life. I live a few minutes down the road and experienced a medical emergency with my dog. Their normal vet doesn’t have emergency appointments and referred me to an urgent care 45 minutes away. Time I may not have had the luxury of with my dog. I called GAH and they told me to come right in. The staff was kind and compassionate, the vet came out and explained exactly what they were doing and what to expect, and they were prompt with their care. Thanks to them I’m home with my dog tonight. Couldn’t recommend them more. -

Wonderful service and awesome services. Our 11-year old Lab was suffering terribly from tendon and ligament damage in one of his knees, but the surgical options and subsequent rehab seemed brutal for a dog of his age. We tried acupuncture on the advice of a friend; after 7 treatments, our boy is back to normal. We also use the Chinese herbs to help maintain his newfound health.Dr. Ashley Serfis is great - shell answer any question and help you find the right treatment for your pet. The other services offered by GAH are amazing; they really seem to be on the cutting edge of veterinary care, and everyone who works there has the best interests of each animal in mind. We love going there, and now so does my sister; her 12-year old arthritic Lab, with the help of acupuncture and herbs, is so vastly improved, we have to pinch ourselves. This is a great place, and were lucky we found it! -

Greenfield Animal Hospital has twice saved our cat, Miles, life. He came to them after another vet had torn through his muscle during a rabies shot and the wound had abscessed. They brought him back from the brink. Later that same year Miles was attacked by a stray cat and had some deep wounds. Again, and despite our limited funds, doctor Steeves brought Miles back to health. We are very grateful to Greenfield Animal Hospital and couldnt recommend them more highly. -

We live in Albany, NY and followed one of the Vets from a practice close to our home. The service from the front end, techs and other vets continues to be excellent. Our dogues get their nails done here as well as other exams. The dogues appear to have an easier time here with the techs than any other place we have used. When we dont see our normal vet the others are great with us and our dogues love them too. Our female never loves you up on the first encounter, but she did with one of the vets she hadnt seen before. Kudos to him. They have recently added new rehabilitation space. I got the chance to see it and am very impressed. We will continue to make the 40 minute one way drive because we are confident that our dogues are getting the best care possible. -

Best vet in upstate NY along side George Glanzberg without question-- and I know!!!!! I have been to vets who have written books on alternative care near NYC who couldnt even detect and diagnose severe dehydration! Boston and Cornell specialists--- for vet care for extreme sick pets all misdiagnosing my pet. I had a diabetic cat and dog -- Mallitus and Insipidus(proof lightening can strike twice!) I received false diagnosis and mis-treatments nearly killing both my pets, costing me a bloody fortune from Peter Farrell at Burnt Hills Vet Clinic, for yrs! I trusted what he was saying was true and it was a $40,000 mistake. He told me my dogs (diabetes condition he failed to diagnose because he did not run the tests properly) was a rare disease that hadnt been discovered or named in medical books yet, which caused my boxer Bernie to be in diapers for the rest of his life (10 yrs in Depends from a stretched bladder muscle due to mis diagnosis!) He told me the pharmaceutical company He told me my special insulin for my cat was no longer avail causing him a severe bout of almost fatal fatty liver syndrome. I called the co and they gave me the name of the other big manufacturer still making it. Peters excuse --and i quote him the pharmaceutical co withholds that info from veterinarians! That mistake cost 5 grand/should have never happened. ----- Frank knew the course of action with my dog from the moment we met him-- no misdiagnosis! -- Frank is bright and humble and actually practices medicine! He wasnt resting on good ole boy Cornell club laurels/and ego as the other vets Ive taken my dog to had.I adore Frank Akawi with the heat of a thousand suns! If he treated humans, he would be my PCP!His services arent inexpensive -- my only complaint is the price of vet care -- but I could not own a pet in upstate ny if Dr. Akawi was not available to me for medical care. There are a lot of veteranarians who clearly should not be practicing medicine out there beyond spay neutering and mending bones.I love that De. Akawi also treats w chinese herbs and welcomed me using a homeopath for my dog named George Glanzberg in /north Bennington in conjunction to his allopathic care -- another truly gifted vet. Frank is a natural born healer --- his acupuncture treatments helped my aging female boxer -- we had to carry her into his clinic --- she walked out!ps. he isnt infallible by any means -- the dif is, he knows when he is limited -- and wont string you along in pretense. -

Weve taken all our cats to Green Trails Animal clinic. Many of our cats were romping-stomping healthy cats and needed only normal care. The vets were always efficient, and sent us timely reminders. Two of our cats needed special care and thats where the vets services really shone. Most recently, our Cosmo (aka Mo) had diabetes. Wed adopted Mo, and partial diabetes had resulted in partial paralysis of his hocks. Dr. Kolenda was Cosmos main vet, and diagnosed the diabetes and told us it was the cause of the paralysis. He carefully testing to monitor insulin needs, and told us the paralysis might reverse. I have to admit, I didnt really believe it, but loh and behold, in a few weeks, Mo was walking like a real cat!Dr. Kolenda continued to give Mo the extra care he always needed and Mo survived to a ripe old age of 13 yo. Our other cat is more robust but hes certainly staying with Green Trails! -

My vet was closed and my dog was having diabetic convulsions. They helped me over the phone due to the fact I was an hour away. Best, best, best care. There is only one vet that I feel needs more experience...the rest are top-notch. They show you beforehand what your visit will likely cost, they have two options that allows a way to pay for the bill over time and one option, an insurance plan, also gives free office visits, discount on meds and food, free inoculations per year, etc. The only thing is you get what you pay for. They cost a little more than other vets...but I feel I am saving time and money because the diagnosis and care my pets receive saves me the run around from other vets, trying to diagnose and treat. -

I have brought my three dogs to Greenfield Animal Hospital for over 3 years. Our hunting dog bit a porcupine close to 8pm while we were out hiking, we called and they got him in immediately, sedated our dog and took out over 2 full bowls of quills in about 30 mins. He bit a porcupine twice within a six month span.Recently, our 14-year old dog had a large tumor and went to Greenfield Animal Hospital to seek options. To see if we could reduce the tumor prior to even considering putting him down. We tried the medicine for over 2 weeks, but unfortunately the tumor just continued growing, decreasing his quality of life so it was then we decided to take him in for his final consultation prior to putting him down. We were allowed to go into the room, we gave our dog cheese, and said our goodbyes, the vet and the tech were amazing and extremely empathetic to the entire situation. We were glad we were with our family pet in his last seconds, as he peacefully passed away. Thank you Greenfield Animal Hospital for such great staff! -

Our golden, Teddy, has been a GAH patient for over 4 years now, and weve had great experiences. Dr. Buhrmaster and Dr. Hunnicutt are particularly wonderful! Also, my in-laws needed to have their elderly cat euthanized suddenly last year, and even though they were not established patients, they were able to bring him right in and were very impressed with the compassionate treatment they received. As a fellow (human) medical professional, I am consistently impressed with the compassionate and evidence-based care we receive at GAH! -

I brought my dog Summit to GAH for the first time yesterday. He has never been a fan of going to the vet and generally has a lot of anxiety being even gently touched for simple non-invasive things such as vital signs. With that being said, we both had an excellent experience at Greenfield yesterday! The technician, Courtney, was extremely patient and accommodating. She was even able to take a blood sample from Summit’s leg (with ease)! This was the first time anyone had successfully drawn blood from him in two years due to his anxiety. We were then seen by Dr. Serfis. The way she introduced herself to Summit as well as her quick but skillful techniques had such a positive impact throughout the exam.As a dog mom having a successful and low-stress vet visit for your fur baby is such a relief. I truly believe the attitude and obvious love for animals the staff shows is what made this visit so pleasant and productive! -

Our dog gashed his leg open pretty badly around 7 last night and we could not find a vet that was open and our vet already had 3 other emergencies...someone mentioned greenfield and we call, they gladly told us to come in and Im so glad they did! We brought him after the 50 minute drive and and they immediately took him to stop the bleeding...they quickly got to him after other pets and within an hour he was walking back out to us. He did end up partially cutting his achilles tendon and they mended it up with no extra charge after they made up an estimate in just mending the muscle and skin. They also trimmed his nails and cleaned his ears for free, stayed an hour and a half after they closed to make sure he was ok to go home, and didnt charge for an emergency walk in. The bill was much less than I thought it was going to be and they were so nice. Long story short -great staff, a+ service, amazing hours. Definitely worth the extra drive from here on out for our pups!! -

I called the hospital today to speak to Dr. Akawi regarding my elderly Labradors failing condition. He was kind enough to take my call, and spent a good deal of time discussing my dogs symptoms, likely diagnosis/prognosis and the causes of his various symptoms.Dr. Akawi could have refused the call, he could have told me to bring my poor dog in for an examination; but he did not do that. He helped me me reach a very difficult decison, and for that, I am forever grateful.Dr. Akawi is a class act, and he is a most knowledgeable and caring Vet. I highly recommend the Greenfield Animal Hospital and Dr. Akawi.Rory OConnor -

We have a 4 month old mini pig and were in search of an exotic vet to see her for a routine physical and a spay procedure. After trying nearly 30 veterinarian offices, we landed at the Johnstown Animal Clinic….Well unfortunately, we were less than satisfied with their service and misinformation and again found ourselves in search of a reliable vet. By complete coincidence we happened upon the Greenfield Center Animal Hospital driving by and saw the “exotic animals” sign. We couldnt have been any happier than to stumble upon them! From the minute we stepped through their door we were blown away! Between their extremely clean and nicely kept facility, to their more than kind and helpful receptionists and assistants to the incredibly knowledgeable and benevolent exotic vet, Dr. Steeves. We were in awe at how immediately comfortable we had felt. It seems as though everyone there goes the extra mile. Every aspect of the visit was explained with detail and we couldnt appreciate more the amount of one on one time Dr. Steeves spent with us going over information and care for our new piglet. We were even grateful for the follow-up phone call the next morning by the receptionist just to check on Miss Piggy after a routine Rabies shot.Of course we returned for the spay procedure. As expected, it was a flawless visit. Not one single complaint! An estimate was provided before anything was performed. The procedure was completed in half the time we had expected and on top of that, when we got her back you wouldnt even know she had surgery. There was no sign of lethargic behavior or appetite loss. She did great! In all, the biggest downfall is that we live 35 minutes away, but that doesnt stop us from recommending these guys to anyone in need of a vet. It is by far worth the drive. We can’t say thank you enough! 5 Stars everyone!!!! -

Our beloved Boston Terrier Boaris fell ill New Years Eve. I stayed up with him until 3:00 a.m. hoping he would get better by morning. He did not. I was so upset because I knew it was his time to leave us. It really hurt knowing I could not take him to his regular vet on New Years day. I remembered Greenfield Animal Hospital providing emergency care from an article I had read. I called them barely audible as I was so emotional. They were extremely patient with me and genuinely sympathetic. I was able to make an appointment for him that morning. They explained to me over the phone what would happen and the expense involved (even though it did not matter). Their facility has a very homey feel about it and that was very important in the final moments of my dogs life. It had comfortable cushioned chairs, wood floors and a Christmas tree in the corner. The experience was chaos free and we were taken right in and given all the time we needed to say our good-byes. Although the recording at my vet recommended bring him to the Latham Animal Hospital or Northway Animal Clinic, I just did not want to spend the last minutes with my dog in E.R. mode. I am so grateful for their services. Their prices for services were extremely reasonable and actually less than what I anticpated. I am going to call my vet and let her know about my experience. Perhaps shell add Greenfield Animal Hospital to her recommended emergency facilities. -
