Was looking for a dog beach in NY and this place came up. My pup loved it! Came during memorial day. All other pups and their hoomans were nice. Will be back! As many other reviews have stated: go during low tide or youll probably think the beach is 30 feet by 10 feet like some other reviews on here have written 🤭. And yes parking might be a little annoying but its worth the added steps if you already came out wanting your pup to have a good time!

Beautiful quiet neighborhood. The beach is small and the sand is rocky. People and dogs are friendly. No eating no drinking and parking is very limited.

  • Review 3 (2024-08-17 - Rating: 5)

My little one enjoyed the water eventhough she was the smallest one there, it is not that big but it is nice to know that there is a place I could take my little one in those hot days. The views are beautiful.

A little less than ideal. There is no parking there so you have to find some other street parking and almost all of it is designated no parking. When you do find a legal parking spot you still get a ticket (this happened to me). Also, you cant close the gate so its not that secure for the dogs. Very small beach but thats ok. Opal swam on her own for the first time during high tide.

The year-round dog beach is an absolute paradise for canine companions! With its open access for dogs to run and swim from 8 am to 12 noon, its a haven of joy for both pets and their owners. Ive found that going early ensures snagging a parking spot, allowing us to make the most of our beach adventure. Its a fantastic way to let your furry friend enjoy the sand, surf, and sun, making unforgettable memories together.

Such a beautiful park. It is a bit hilly, but it has incredible views of the Long Island Sound. The dog and I love coming down here and taking a leisurely walk. You can usually encounter at least two other dogs on any given occasion. 😁 Check the tides before you go because you lose half access to the beach at high tide!

  • Review 7 (2022-06-17 - Rating: 5)

Love this little dog beach! I wish there was more parking but overall its great. Also remember at high tide theres very little sand space.

  • Review 8 (2019-08-13 - Rating: 5)

The beach is not as clean as a regular human beaches. There are a lot of pebbles and broken shells BUT it was awesome. Other dog owners do an amazing job cleaning up after their pets. Also, there’s only one way in and out so it’s easier for the dogs to roam. Everyone there was so nice and they made sure their dogs were kind to everyone human and dogs alike. Even when my dog didn’t want to socialize everyone still made us feel comfortable and safe. I would highly suggest this dog beach. I wish there were more.

  • Review 9 (2019-06-21 - Rating: 5)

One of the most beautiful small place I have ever visit.I love the shore view. You can pass hours over here without do anything.Everybody should visit the place.

  • Review 10 (2019-08-18 - Rating: 5)

Excellent place to bring your dog to get a nice beach swim. Better during low tide with more beach access

  • Review 11 (2023-09-10 - Rating: 4)

Great spot to take your dog the first time. It’s not a large beach where your dog will be able to do long runs, especially towards the end of the day. You’ll find parking a few blocks away. Always respect the local residents home and space.

  • Review 12 (2019-08-31 - Rating: 5)

Love this place. Clean n serene. Dogs here are friendly and playful, owners as well. Must go again.

  • Review 13 (2019-07-14 - Rating: 4)

Location has great views, dogs, and dog owners. Downside is that dogs must be on leash and cops come by often to check you on that. Not great for doggy socializing.

  • Review 14 (2021-08-01 - Rating: 4)

Great place to visit with the dogs. I have a pit lab mix and she had a blast. Its not a huge section of the beach but the dogs dont care! Although it says dogs must be leashed it is not enforced so please keep that in mind for dogs with possible aggression or anxiety problems. Dogs can and will come up to your dog and fast. 4 stars because it doesnt have very open hours and for those with trouble walking, parking isnt close by. The beach is also very rocky and filled with shells so again it can be hard to walk on.

  • Review 15 (2020-08-16 - Rating: 5)

Still a great place for dogs to beat the heat and enjoy a swim. Its been closing at noon this year, for the large volume of new visitors and distancing. The tide has come in earlier than usual, so check the tide prior, as the shore/beach space is considerably less to walk and enjoy their beach day.

  • Review 16 (2018-10-10 - Rating: 5)

Wonderful little spot a short ways off from a beautiful scenic park where we walked after we had our fill of sand and splashing around! We were lucky enough to arrive at low tide which we were told greatly expands the space in which the dogs can run and play on the beach. Easy to get to by public transit as well. Will definitely return.

  • Review 17 (2023-09-12 - Rating: 5)

Great place to stroll around with mans best friend.

  • Review 18 (2019-08-05 - Rating: 5)

Larchmont dog beach is a great place to bring your dog! Its a local gem. My dog gets relief from the hot weather when he comes here. Also it a different experience for him from the fenced in dog park with grass and trees. I taught my dog to swim here. Now you cant get him out of the water. =)

  • Review 19 (2019-10-08 - Rating: 5)

Love this place! Great for dogs! A lot of friendly and welcoming dog lovers and dogs. Good for the pups to socialize and pet parents to make friends. Would be even better if humans without dogs stopped crowding this beach with they kayaks, boogeyboards, paddle boards, canoes, and just spent the cash on the country clubs next door and up and down the shore. If you cant afford your watersports hobby, dont infringe on the rights of others. Ya know? I dont come to your hood to throw a block party. A lot of those huge kayaks and canoes (Especially when you bring your family 🤦‍♂️) scare the dogs and/or they may see it as a toy and chew or pee on it. 🤣 Its a dog beach. You have plenty of human beaches. 🐾

  • Review 20 (2023-08-22 - Rating: 4)

Nice strip of beach for the dogs to run and swim. I wish it was open more than 3 hours a day and that there was some allowance for dogs off leash.

  • Review 21 (2024-06-16 - Rating: 5)

My dog loved it and the few people that came in were very welcoming

  • Review 22 (2021-06-07 - Rating: 5)

Please make sure to take care of this beach for everyone! Closed after 2020 hurricane, but now open again 2021 with distancing and signs requiring masks. Not totally fenced in, so dogs must remain leashed. Also, no swimming because its a bit rocky.

  • Review 23 (2019-08-21 - Rating: 5)

Cute little Dog beach and by little, I mean very small! It’s convenient for a quick dip to cool off the pup. We found parking a couple blocks down, which wasn’t a far walk.

  • Review 24 (2019-07-30 - Rating: 5)

Great place, with lots of puppers having off leash fun. No shade on the beach, but plenty in nearby parks if you need a break. No amenities nearby so bring your own water and snacks.

  • Review 25 (2016-01-05 - Rating: 5)

Awesome dog beach. It is not a fenced but only one way out and In so much space during low tide to let the doggies roam free. Plus I saw Jessica from trueblood there once so the was nice

  • Review 26 (2023-09-03 - Rating: 5)

Beautiful place, we met fantastic dogs owners who had proved to have their pets under control, and leashed, will recommend this place to all my friends

  • Review 27 (2017-02-18 - Rating: 4)

Nice place to let your dog run around. Be careful cops didnt bother me but I did see them posted outside the park when we left...I guess they might give out tikets.

  • Review 28 (2018-10-01 - Rating: 5)

I love fishing at this beach- I catch fish here all the time. I know it’s not allowed to go fishing hear- so shhh don’t tell anyone. Yah that’s me at 5:30 am in June fishing for striped bass.

  • Review 29 (2021-08-16 - Rating: 5)

Love this beach for our dog. I just wish there was a public bathroom near by.

  • Review 30 (2016-06-01 - Rating: 4)

Nice scenery to bring a dog on a walk, but actual beach is very small and not fenced in.

  • Review 31 (2021-08-24 - Rating: 5)

There is a lot of space to roam around and the sand (is not perfectly clean) but much better looking then others.

  • Review 32 (2021-10-09 - Rating: 5)

Great spot to take your dog. Quaint and peaceful. Friendly atmosphere as well.

  • Review 33 (2014-07-24 - Rating: 5)

  • Review 37 (2017-08-04 - Rating: 4)

Reaaly good olace for dogs, they can run on the beach and olay in the water, remember bring your leash

  • Review 38 (2013-09-21 - Rating: 4)

A lot of fun 4 dogs, but not so much space for running big dogs when the tide comes in

  • Review 39 (2018-04-15 - Rating: 5)

Nice place to come too, you can see the bridges and lights of New york in the evening. Also this is open beach

  • Review 40 (2016-08-27 - Rating: 5)

Great spot for the doggies to run and play! Its best at low tide-plenty of room.

  • Review 41 (2018-08-17 - Rating: 4)

It is the place to bring your dogs. Neighbors are not that friendly, I guess they are mad since the neighbor goes crazy in weekends.

  • Review 42 (2023-07-28 - Rating: 5)

Nice beach for dogs very private

  • Review 43 (2018-08-09 - Rating: 4)

Quiet, clean, and plenty of places to explore (if you go at low tide!). No bathrooms, though.

  • Review 44 (2019-04-14 - Rating: 5)

Nice place to bring your dogs. Lovely surroundings.

  • Review 45 (2019-08-19 - Rating: 4)

    Always beautiful!

  • Review 46 (2021-09-07 - Rating: 4)

Great little dog beach. Requires leashes but no one really listens to that anyway. Make sure to go during low tide. During high tide there is not much beach.

  • Review 47 (2017-07-18 - Rating: 4)

Fun for your pup to take a quick dip and make new friends. The area is relatively small depending on the tide. Little to no garbage in the water. The only down fall is that because the community is adamant about maintaining a peaceful and secluded environment, loud barking and too much commotion causes the neighbors to come and monitor the play and may even get someone to implement that all dogs remain on leash. But over all it is a wonderful area, & almost always a friendly crowd.

  • Review 48 (2016-08-31 - Rating: 5)

Amazing experience. Zoe, my Boston loved it so much.

  • Review 49 (2019-09-22 - Rating: 5)

This place is great for dogs that like water... Make sure you go at low tide. At high tide there is almost no beach.
