Deanne is your pets best advocate. As a certified dog behaviorist and a trainer, she makes sure to work with you in order to find harmony and happiness between you and your pet. Deanne is very knowledgeable about human dog dynamics. Our first session went beyond what I was expecting. Deanne came to our home and went through feeding, toys, sleeping arrangements, routines, etc.; all specifically geared to our family and the way we live.In the next two sessions we concentrated on training. Deanne takes her time with explaining realistic expectations and educating the humans on how to achieve desired behaviors. She was always available to answer additional questions after our sessions, and is a true professional, providing full write-ups afterwards of what you worked on, exercises to do and expectations for follow-ups.Deanne really listens and works for what is best for you as the owner and your pets well-being and happiness.

I’m so happy to have found Deanne! She is personable and responsive, you can tell she truly enjoys helping dogs and their humans. I have a 4 year old “pandemic puppy” mini aussie who was fearful and anxious and was becoming more and more leash reactive over the past few months since moving to the UWS. His recall wasn’t always reliable and he was terrified of the horses in the park, as well as the many dogs we cane across on a daily basis. Deanna has been instrumental in helping Remy gain the confidence he needed and curb his leash reactivity. His recall is so much more reliable now to where i’m no longer scared he will get distracted and run off. He’s been able to explore a lot more and I’ve seen a world of a difference in his behavior. I could not be more thankful for all her guidance! I highly, highly recommend Deanne, you will wonder how you ever survived without her!

I cant recommend Deanne enough. 4 months ago, I adopted a 5-month old puppy who had no prior training and severe leash reactivity to both dogs and people. Through working with Deanne, he now has a strong foundation in training and can walk through busy NYC streets with few issues. He also LOVES Deanne and her training sessions. Her love for dogs is so evident.Deanne focuses not only on dog training, but also on giving owners the tools they need to continue training in between sessions. She writes detailed summaries with instructions on how to progress further, and I have learned so much about dog training and behavior through her, even as a lifetime dog owner.Deanne uses a science-backed positive reinforcement approach which has been great in helping my nervous rescue pup build confidence. Deanne is an AMAZING trainer. She definitely knows her stuff and she is a very compassionate and understanding person to work with. You can tell she definitely enjoys what she does and she does it for the better of your dog. Even when we arent training she will still message me checking up on my dogs and making sure theyre doing ok. Deanne has a genuine love for animals and you can tell she will treat your baby like theyre her own. She has so much compassion and empathy for them, and will never blame your pet for bad behavior. Her mantra of positive reinforcement and her understanding of dog psychology makes her one of the best trainers I could recommend! My dog absolutely LOVES her and gets so excited every time he sees her come over. If youre thinking about scheduling training with her, Id say go for it as I couldnt recommend her more!

I would highly recommend Deanne! She helped us work with our 8 month puppy and within a very short amount of time he was strong in many foundational skills. She is warm, funny, and extremely generous with her time and knowledge. After each session she sent very thorough notes, that would outline work done and what to move towards in the future.Shes also pretty reasonably priced for a one-on-one trainer. Short version: Hire Deanne, especially if dealing with resource guarding.Longer version:Deanne was recommended to us by another rescue owner we met in the park. Our young dog was getting much worse about resource guarding and information we found online was not helping. We were getting scared it was never going to get better no matter what we did, but after working with Deanne it improved greatly within literally 2 weeks. Before training if we got near him while he was eating he would growl and sometimes lunge. After training, he wags as we approach him and allows us to grab his food bowl and add more kibble. While the training itself is pretty basic, it was key to have an expert like Deanne guide us through the process.In addition to helping resource guarding, Deanne also helped us clean up our training techniques and improve our relationship with our pup. She is a highly skilled trainer and relies on science backed techniques. We highly recommend her to any dog owner.

We love Deanne! When we rescued our dog Marty (malti-poo) it became clear that he had severe separation anxiety. We are so lucky to have found such a wonderful CSAT trainer in Deanne! She is patient, thoughtful, specific and CARES DEEPLY about our baby. Deanne provides support and guidance with daily training missions that we follow every week! We share a google spreadsheet where we work together to document Martys progress week to week. Part of the program involves a weekly live assessment with Deanne where we check in about our pup and determine a game plan for the next week. Deanne provides custom training, based off of what Martys behavior is in the moment. Marty used to freak out if we left for just 1 second and now weve seen that hes capable of remaining calm for almost 30 min! Separation Anxiety training can sometimes be a very long road, and were so grateful for Deanne that she has helped get us to a place where we can see the light at the end of the tunnel for Marty!

We absolutely love Deanne! To say that she gives her heart and soul to helping dogs and to doggy parents is such an understatement. She is incredibly knowledgeable and also continues to stay up to date with new studies and information so she can bring as many tools as possible to the table. Our new rescue pup presented us with many new challenges, and Deanne has been with us every step of the way. She is always available on text or by phone call. We are so thankful to have found someone who genuinely cares and is 100% committed to her clients.Our dog has separation anxiety, and Deanne has not only provided detailed daily training missions for us, but she has provided incredible support. Anyone who has gone through SA training understands how frustrating it can be, and Deanne has cheered us on and encouraged us throughout the process.Our previous dog also had separation anxiety. We had a dog trainer years ago, who essentially just talked to us for an hour and left us on our own with no support. He also used techniques that were not backed by extensive studies and research. We ended up giving up on the SA training for that dog because we did not have proper support and training techniques to see improvements. Deanne is the exact opposite. If we had Deanne for the previous dog, I believe we could have trained our previous dog out of the separation anxiety. Deanne is a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer (CSAT). With the strategies used from her training, we see continual progress with our dog. She provides training techniques backed by science and that we can implement right away. She also sends us a detailed summary of the lessons and steps so you have something to refer to. She takes care of it all.She knows her stuff, is compassionate and just all around lovely to work with!

Deanne is an incredible dog trainer! She has taught our rescue dogs manners and even tricks using ONLY positive reinforcement. She is incredibly passionate about animals and knowledgeable about a lot of training techniques. Our dogs are genuinely thrilled to see her (as are we), and I cannot say enough positive things about our overall experience. The dogs are happier, we are happier and it has been so beneficial to have them behaving better with our young daughter.

We adopted two 14 month old pugs (siblings) who needed help with issues such as jumping up, reactivity, and general manners. We feel so fortunate to have found Deanne who is an incredibly talented trainer and lovely person.Deanne’s approach is positive reinforcement which is exactly what we were looking for. Starting with a comprehensive intake, Deanne digs in and tries to understand the underlying context + antecedents contributing to various behaviors. She is keenly perceptive and understands our dogs’ behaviors to a tee. She has been able to pinpoint problem areas for each dog and skillfully come up with detailed plans for us to address them. After each session, she follows up with tips and summaries.Deanne genuinely wants us and our dogs to succeed; it’s clear that she loves dogs and truly enjoys what she does. She is so supportive and generous with her time - always willing to hop on a call and check in.Our dogs have both had behavior changes thanks to Deanne’s training. Truly a life changer. Deanne completely changed my sisters rescue puppys life. Deanne is loving and creative and thoroughly understands dogs. Our young poodle was very wild and Deanne civilized her with gentleness and kindness. Deanne’s solely positive reinforcement approach makes training a productive and happy experience. Her mantra to reward the right behavior has been key for our puppy. So has been Deanne’s help with leash reactivity, which has been working beautifully. Plus, our dog is always thrilled to see Deanne. She takes such great care of our puppy, even cooking chicken for her when she wasn’t eating well. Deanne is so aware and smart that she noticed when our puppy was looking thinner than usual. Sure enough, the vet confirmed that our dog needed to put on a bit more weight. We feel so fortunate to have found Deanne. Without the slightest exaggeration, Deanne is a gem.

I adopted a rescue dog and immediately noticed she had very little training. I tried to manage her on my own but it was a BIG fail. Deanne (trainer) immediately assessed some of the things I was doing wrong and on day one of working together my rescue showed surprising improvement (a HUGE relief)! Deanne trained ME in these helpful techniques and I continued to do them at home along with more sessions with Deanne, and the improvement continued! My pup is not perfect YET, but the leaps and bounds makes her close to it. Now we are working on her extreme anxiety issues and Im confident Deanne will help us get through this as well. I love working with Deanne because she is genuine in her passion for her work and her love of dogs comes through in every session. One of the reasons I believe my dog responds so well to her techniques is because of her fun spirit and kind approach EVERY time. My dog LOVES going to her sessions! I HIGHLY recommend her services!

Deanna deserves 1,000 stars!! I’m a new 1st time dog parent (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) and did a lot of research to find the right trainer. After a couple of bad experiences I finally found Deanna and I can assure you she’s in a league of her own!! Her philosophy is 100% positive reinforcement, which some old school trainers will tell you doesn’t work. Do not believe them. It does work and it leads to a healthier and happier puppy, and hence a healthier and happier puppy parent. She’s the perfect blend of technical and soft, precise but flexible and adaptable. But more importantly - she’s so EFFECTIVE and LOVES dogs so much that her training sessions are fun to watch! Watching my puppy Kiko literally learn a new cue from scratch and then do the behavior consistently during a session and after is magical. I appreciate Deanna’s very technical and scientific approach to dog training (she will cite the latest research on any topic relevant to dog behavior and psychology) and that she will also train me as the parent on how to better train my puppy. Then the after session summaries that she sends are full packed with information and tips (tip: her website is one of the best resources for new dog owners, packed with great info). Overtime, as you do sessions, those summaries become like a school report on my puppy showing his progress overtime, problem areas, cues he’s learned etc. It’s so useful I find myself referencing it often. Look no further, hire Deanna now!

It is hard to put into words how much Deanne changed our lives, but I will try!We adopted our dog Gracie when she was around a year old and calling it a challenge is an understatement. At the time, we did not seek out professional training. We started working with Deanne when Gracie was around 3, and although she had calmed down significantly, she still had some challenging behaviors (like leash pulling) and she did not consistently follow commands.After a few months of working with Deanne all I can say is WOW - I wish we had found her earlier. From our first session, it was clear that Deanne has a passion for animals and Gracie took to her immediately. It was also clear that Deanne knows her stuff - she has done the research and taken the time to thoroughly study dog training philosophies. Her positive, evidence-based approach made us feel confident that with time and dedication the strategies she was teaching us would pay off. Gracie made great progress with each session and the best part was Deanne took the time to make sure we felt confident carrying over her teachings in between sessions.Since working with Deanne our bond with Gracie grew stronger and she transformed into a much better behaved family member!

I can’t say enough good things about Deanna and the services she provides. We had gotten a new puppy in early spring. We had gotten in contact with her, and she has done several one on one classes at my apartment. Our dog took to her really well, and really learned in the process. She cared immensely for our dog and his development.It is worth the investment to do these one-on-one classes, vs a bigger puppy school, as she could adapt to what worked best for him.

Deanne is phenomenal! Me and my pup, Huxley, have been working with her since the beginning of the year. She is extremely knowledgeable on dog training, dedicated to the job, very thorough, and detailed in the steps needed to train appropriately.We’ve had success with a variety of cues and some problem behaviors. For example, we’ve minimized things like incessant jumping and barking indoors. What makesme happiest is the results of our potty training efforts. She’s very direct about what to do and not to do when training certain behaviors, which has been perfect for me.After each session, Deanne sends a detailed summary with your next steps to keep your progress up. She’s also very responsive to questions outside of sessions.

Deanne Romano worked with my dog Nico who was very bossy and barked persistently at all the dogs at the dog run - she was able to correct that problem through redirecting her behavior. Nico learned to walk nicely on leash and not jump on people. We had lots of fun and Nico learned the B! Ask! Highly recommended! Also ask about her homemade Doggie Ice Cream! All of my Friends Dogs go bananas for it!

Deanne is one of the most patient, educated and understanding dog trainers Ive worked with. My little one had separation anxiety and Deanne worked with us on a step by step process of desensitization and while working around my pups threshold. At first, my pup couldnt be left alone for seconds and after two months of training, my little girl is now more confident with her training process and can now be alone for 20 min! I love Deannes dedication and advocacy with her training.
