Stuyvesant Square Park held an afternoon of jazz with Alex Nguyen and Friends. Located on Second Avenue and 17th Street, this park is perfect for listening to music and picnics. Last summer I was here early Sunday evenings and so I and three friends had an enjoyable time. -

Beautiful park adjacent to Rutherford Place. Note the statue of Peter Stuyvesant (c. 1610-1672), director-general of New Netherland from 1647 to 1664, on the west side of the park. -

An incredible enclave of peace and tranquillity. Two parks next to each other each with a distinct feeling. One with a statue of former Gov of the Dutch Colony Peter Stuyvesant— for who the park is named (give him a search, a very interesting character). Events pop up in the park including music, stargazing, and dancing. Tables are on the west side version to sit and eat or play a card game. Overall one of my favorite places to be in nyc. -

I like this park a lot more after I came across a very unique tree that has small bright pink flowers growing all over its branches and trunk in early May. MUST SEE! -

This place is a great public park! 🏞️ Stuyvesant Square Park is a nice green 🌳 spot in NYC 🗽 that has lots of picnic 🧺 tables (some are even wheelchair ♿ friendly) and benches! Perfect place to wind down and relax 😌 in the middle of the city! 🏙️ I wish I came here more often! -

Beautiful park with an awesome Dog Park where doggies can frolic and have fun. Park is nicely maintained and space for dogs is nice and big. Never an issue here and owners seem nice and friendly while also picking up after their dogs. -

The last remaining space what was the Stuyvesant Farm or Bourerji (Bowery). Its Incredibly Stoopid of Google Maps not to the note the statue of Peter Stuyvesant aka old peg leg! Its the western side of the parkThe best part I think, the western side with the butterfly tree and the Peter Stuyvesant statue Old Peg Leg. The last and the most hated of the Dutch overseers, many who were so glad to get them out after 200 years 🥵However my dears theres not a single Bathroom in either side, not a single Bathroom whatsoever💩 -
Review 11 (2019-05-09 - Rating: 5)
Spent 30 minutes sitting under a tree in some light rain. All right next to some beautiful flowerbeds. People were walking their dogs while others were just passing through. Peaceful and quiet, its hard to imagine when its next to a busy hospital and lots of highrise buildings. Definitely a must visit. -

Lots of greenery, large trees and nice foliage. A large dog park in the center with plenty of room for dogs to run around in. Perfect little place to read a book, watch the dogs, or just relax under the sound of branches. All fenced in so it feels quite intimate. -

Review 18 (2018-06-11 - Rating: 4)
This is a strange oasis and always has been. It is serene as a park, since there are no playgrounds or ballfields, although they have recently converted half of the eastern side into a dog run. During the day, it is mostly local elderly and hospital workers eating lunch, as the day progresses more of the local high schoolers show up. In the night there are a number of creepers cruising. A fair amount of local bums as well. The plantings have gotten better over the years and that helps to make is more relaxing. -
Review 19 (2020-07-28 - Rating: 5)
It is a small park. It has wonderful trees that shade the benches and a central garden that is beautiful. -
Review 20 (2021-07-25 - Rating: 5)

Review 21 (2023-05-28 - Rating: 5)
Its a lovely park. I think its very tranquil with a good mix of sunny and shady spots to sit. Im usually at the dog park. Its got benches all around the perimeter and a great open space to chase a ball with the dog. The waste bags are always available. The gates have monstrous latches on them so watch your fingers. I dont think theres a restroom anywhere in the park, which is disappointing. All in all I really enjoy this place. In fact its quiet enough that I can do business calls for work from here. Good data signal on my plan. -
Review 22 (2018-08-17 - Rating: 4)
An idyllic little park thats a few blocks away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Union Square Park. Its clean and you can see your fill of squirrels here. The highlight would be the free mini library located at the entrance . -

Review 26 (2017-12-21 - Rating: 4)
I take my dog to the dog park here a lot. The dogs are mild mannered and friendly and there isn’t dirt at this dog park. The downside to going to Madison square Park is that there is dirt and rocks that get kicked up when I take my dog and she smells after. I much rather take her to this one. There has never been a dog fight while I was here and the floor is concrete so no smell and my dog gets the exercise she needs! It’s rarely full so I took her last night and she has the park to herself for around 20 minutes.I recommend this park, it’s very nice and well maintained and close to east village and gramercy neighborhood. -

Ive been to the dog park and enjoy it. While there is no grass or water available, the clientele have generally seemed nice and the area is clean. Much quieter and with IMO less to worry about than at other local dog parks (Im looking at you Tompkins Square Dog Park). -
Review 35 (2019-01-17 - Rating: 5)
Nice, clean location. During warmer months, the flowers bloom and there are squirrels, birds, and dogs getting taken on a walk by their owners. Its a very nice, relaxing atmosphere. Good for children, too. Its a pretty small area, and feels like a small park. -
Review 36 (2019-04-23 - Rating: 5)
This is a pretty little park in the heart of the city. Personally, I prefer the church side over the hospital side as it is a bit quieter and has better views. -

I really love Stuyvesant Park. It is a beautiful little oasis of nature in the East Village. It is definitely a community space. It is a wonderful place to relax, chill with friends or have a picnic and its quiet enough to meditate or read a book. This is one of my favorite parks and whether you are walking your dog or jogging... this is truly an all season park for everyone. -

Great park with a large dog run in an convenient area. Lots of homeless ppl and rats so you have to watch out but hard to find that much space for your dog to play with mature trees and water. -
Review 44 (2022-07-16 - Rating: 5)
Much better than Union Square! Much quieter, I can read a book in there and get a decent seat. Theres a small dog park oh, and while Im allergic it actually doesnt bother me. I feel like the air is fresher over there too, possibly because of all the trees. -
Review 45 (2018-06-30 - Rating: 5)
I love this little neighborhood park. It is close to my apartment and is great for a short walk or nice to sit for a while on the many benches. It also has picnic tables and the landscaping is spectacular. It is really at its best in the late spring and early summer when everything is in bloom. -
Review 46 (2024-09-17 - Rating: 5)
So peaceful and scenic. My 19 year old cat Bell and I love to come and sit for awhile. -
Review 47 (2020-01-03 - Rating: 5)
Another largely unknown set park where you can always find a bench. It’s also crazy and busker free. -
Review 48 (2017-06-24 - Rating: 4)
Good place to hang out and read or bring your dog and have it socialize with other dogs. It does have its share of homeless hangouts but they are harmless and do not bother you at all. Great tree cover for shade at all hours of the day. -

Beautiful place to sit, chill, and people watch. Mad calming atmosphere. -
Review 52 (2020-12-22 - Rating: 4)
It’s a great park considering how big it is. During the summer, people don’t really clean up for their dogs so there are a lot of times where there are just flies everywhere and it’s quite disgusting. During winter it’s much better! However, if your dog is obsessed with balls and might get aggressive when other dogs are trying to get it (like mine), you should be more cautious about this park cuz there are always 3-5 balls lying around in the park. -
Review 53 (2021-04-20 - Rating: 5)
Peaceful (more so than other parks in lower Manhattan) with great April Spring color. Amazing variety of tulips (in the East half of the garden near the dog park. The quieter half of the park had these cool looking black squirrels with rusty tan tails. Rutherford Place running on the west side the park has some nice old houses. -
Review 54 (2018-06-11 - Rating: 4)
Beautiful scenery, nice park, although there were quite a few vagrants with various schemes to employ in attempt to separate you from your hard earned money. Nice landscaping with a dog friendly area, good place to kill some time and relax whilst waiting for dinner reservations. -
Review 55 (2021-09-16 - Rating: 5)
This park is quiet and beautiful. Much more peaceful than most parks in the area. I went with my small dog and he enjoyed being there and socializing with a few dogs we passed. -
Review 56 (2023-04-12 - Rating: 5)
First time I go there and is a beautiful small park to relax, watch the beautiful flowers of this Spring Season, and of course; take pictures like I did to save memories of NYC parks. Loved it 🙌 -
Review 57 (2018-05-30 - Rating: 4)
Decent place to go on a lunch break, or for some fresh air... fairly clean but has its share of homeless that hang out inside as do most city parks unfortunately... There are always parks personnel inside working... And a lot of people walking through just enjoying the foliage and benches. -
Review 58 (2019-05-26 - Rating: 5)
Pretty much any public park in Manhattan will get five stars from me. Walking around in the city, I appreciate having a place to sit and rest or having a place to sit and eat carryout food rather than inside a crowded restaurant. This park is pretty spacious and well shaded with plenty of benches and even some picnic tables. -
Review 59 (2023-07-07 - Rating: 5)
Came for the Tango lessons in the park. Such a great time, learned a lot in a lovely and beautiful park space. Would definitely go back for an encore! -
Review 60 (2020-09-07 - Rating: 4)
Not disliked. It was clean and well maintained gated comm. A lot of old folk sitting around enjoying these last weeks of nice weather. Its like...you go there to visit your grand parent(s) or parent(s). Go for a walk with them to the supermarket or accommodate the benches to feed the birds. 😆 all in the name of God. Family. Love. Laughter. -
Review 61 (2017-03-09 - Rating: 4)
The nicest little park on NYC. -
Review 62 (2023-04-04 - Rating: 5)
The park is bounded by Second Avenue to the east, Third Avenue to the west, 15th Street to the north, and 17th Street to the south. The park was named after Peter Stuyvesant, the last Dutch governor of New Amsterdam (now New York City), and was created in 1836. It was designed by James S. White, who also designed nearby Tompkins Square Park. The park was originally intended as a private space for the residents of the surrounding neighborhood, but it was later opened to the public.Today, Stuyvesant Square Park features a large central lawn, walking paths, benches, and a playground. It is a popular spot for picnics, sunbathing, and dog walking. The park is also home to several notable statues and memorials, including a statue of Peter Stuyvesant and a memorial to the victims of the General Slocum disaster, a steamship that caught fire in the East River in 1904 and killed over 1,000 people.Overall, Stuyvesant Square Park is a peaceful oasis in the middle of the bustling city, providing a much-needed green space for residents and visitors alike. -

This is one of the most underrated parks in all of Manhattan. A total zone of zen. -
Review 64 (2022-05-26 - Rating: 5)
Very green and shady, at least in spring. Plenty of seating and a few picnic tables. Small and bustling with activity. Lots of pigeons and squirrels. Not much trash. -
Review 65 (2022-09-27 - Rating: 4)
Stuyvesant Square Park is an odd place. It is a fairly small park. It has a lot of pavement and sidewalks, with lot of wide and narrow walkways. But the vegetation that is present is attractive and cared-for. Lots of benches are available for sitting and reading. Due to the plentitude of trees, most of the benches are shaded, but it is possible to find some that get sunshine. The strange aspect is the fairly small size combined with the parks split across 2nd Avenue. The park occupies an area from 15th Street to 17th Street, on both sides of 2nd Avenue. extending perhaps 40% of the distance on both sides of 2nd to, respectively, 1st Avenue and 3rd Avenue. That location means 16th Street does not go through.Unfortunately, the unusual physical arrangement creates danger. You have to cross 2nd Avenue to get between halves of the park. That street crossing is where 16th Street would be, but is not. Because no street is present, no car traffic moves across 2nd Avenue there. Even though a traffic light is at the crossing, bicyclists and e-bike riders recklessly careen through without stopping at red lights. The lack of cars makes them feel they can get away with flouting the law. This is a perilous situation for people on foot. And the New York City Police Department refuses to protect park users there. Also, people ride bikes and motor bikes within the park itself. That is illegal under both New York State and New York City law. Again, the Police do not enforce the law to protect people. Nor does the Parks Department help. -

Review 67 (2019-07-06 - Rating: 5)
Love tis place! Most Saturdays after surfing, I run over to Friends Seminary--where my kids attend Japanese school--and spend some time (either before schools out or after) hanging out in this beautiful park. Theres always something going on--film students shooting something, skateboarders skating amok, parents chasing gnarly little kids. Well kept and pleasant...a nice place to sit on a bench and take in what downtown is like when (other than the occasional frenzy, as mentioned) quiet. -

Review 73 (2018-06-22 - Rating: 4)
Beautifully maintained, clean public park space with lucious flowers, plants, trees, birds, fountains and people of all ages. Plenty of benches allow room for quiet conversation in the farthest corners and front row seating for people watching, comings and goings and performers and musical artists alike. Something for everyone. Bring the whole family, your main squeeze or a good book. Here is New York. -

Neighborhood park with lots of sitting. A part has a dog park and the other some picnic tables also. They organize some nice events like tango , cinema , yoga , follow Their Facebook to know everything. The only thing is that sometimes there are some homeless that leave all their garbage behind ... -
Review 75 (2021-05-01 - Rating: 4)
Regal black gates; clean, sweeping paths; well kept flowers and plants; and even sittable benches ... though I was only on the east side of the park, this is one of the best, most serene neighborhood spots Ive come across in recent times. Why do I sound surprised? Ive seen plenty of local parks in this town and Im never quite sure what Im going to get.I will consider Stuyvesant Square Park a model that others should emulate.Hmmm a blog idea comes to mind ...PS: this place is peaceful, comfortable, and both man and beast seem to stay to themselves. It aggravated my formerly non-existent allergies, but how can one complain about nature? -
Review 76 (2018-07-29 - Rating: 5)
Beautiful park with two gorgeous Manhattan Churches as a background... one of them is the famous JP Morgan Church St Georges Episcopal... where the bullet is still embedded in the pew when they tried to assassinate him there... a Gilded Age robber baron... -
Review 77 (2019-02-16 - Rating: 5)
An oasis of calm and opportunity to embrace, feed and simply be with the wildlife unfettered by the citys usual frenzied, mindless pace.Opens at 6 A. M. and with daylight - the most tranquil part of the day. Otherwise, one learns to follow the reliable ebbs and flows of human visitation and can catch relatively calm periods during the remainder of the day. -
Review 78 (2018-07-06 - Rating: 4)
A relatively small, quaint, beautiful park that circles a fountain. Their are a few extra perks to this park has; On the Southern West side is a popular dog park within Stuyvesant Park as well. Another star for its location, a brief distance, that almost anyone can walk to, is either the east side of 14th St and/or 23rd St. This cozy park is slightly hidden away in a residential area between those popular streets. Yet another perk for being so near to the main and emergency entrances to Mount Sinai Hospital / Beth Israel Hospital, so its also ideal for before or after visiting hours. The most quiet hours are the early mornings and night, around an hour or two before closing time. The busier hrs are during the late afternoon and near dusk. There is no child play area. Better for couples, solitude and dog lovers and hospital visitors or volunteers. -

A quiet and well groomed oasis just minutes East of the very crowded Union Square park. Guess which one I go to when I have a choice? One small irritant - the sprinklers will often spray the park benches making them unusable -

Small tranquil park planted on the edge of Gramercy.perfect for hanging out outside on warm days, eating lunch outside, sipping on coffee, getting lost in the pages of a book, or you just want the semblance of being in nature in NYCs concrete jungle. Stuyvesant Square is a frequent post-running cool-down spot for me and makes for a great place to park yourself in the early evening and chill.the park, itself, is a dual-sectioned park, bisected by Second Avenue and in-between 15th and 17th streets. trees, greenery, and flowers decorate this sliver of nature in Manhattan, which help seclude you and other park-goers from the din of traffic and city life. theres a dog park/run area for those with pooches. the park is really well-maintained and clean. its quite a sight on a warm sunny day. the space itself is maintained well and fairly clean.if you live in the area, take advantage of it....youre paying for it via taxes!drops mic cuz im parked -

Great park to take a walk or just sit and relax with a coffee/drink. Unfortunately there are many homeless people during the late spring and summer. -

Great park, there are two parts on either side of 2nd Ave. The part near Beth Israel Hospital has a dog run with trees and the ground is compiled of cobblestone. Both parts are great for walking through or having a quick break on one of the numerous benches provided by the park. There are various food establishments and shops nearby including KFC, 711, and IHOP. Union Sq. is only a couple avenues away. -

Nice quiet park in the Stuyvesant Square district of Manhattan. Fact - the Stuyvesant family had to sue to get construction started on the fence that encloses the park and, yes, the original fence, started in 1847, is still in place around the park. If youre in the area and looking for some quiet, head to Stuyvesant Square Park. -
Review 117 (2020-09-09 - Rating: 5)
Stuyvesant Square Park is another little park that is only a few blocks long, and a few blocks wide. However, it is bigger than most of other parks in Manhattan. There are nyc parks that is less than a nyc block. The trees are tall and green, and when you are inside Stuyvesant Square Park, you will not think you are in nyc. Quite quiet inside, and wirh the tall trees and bushes, all you eyes will see is green. -

When you dont feel like dealing with the excitement/insanity of Union Square Park, Stuyvesant Square is a good, quiet & well-maintained park to sit & read in and be alone with your thoughts or look at the squirrels or write Google Reviews. JP Morgan used to live around here so he probably sat in this park and contemplated his life. -
