Mat and his team have been excellent walkers/caretakers of our dog for the past 2 years. We have a large and active dog that needs a lot of attention. They love what they do and are super friendly with our dog, always show up as planned, and have also been helpful with petsitting when we have to leave town for a few days. Our dog is always excited when they show up to take him out for his walks. We are fortunate to have them and look forward to working with them for many more years.

I cant recommend Mat and The Well Heeled Dog team enough! If you live in the village or Chelsea you should absolutely use them. They have taken incredible care of our dog Millie, who is always so excited when they show up. They are incredibly attentive and reliable, and we are lucky to have found them.

Mat and his team have been walking our dog twice a day since before the pandemic. We can rely on them to come when scheduled and trust that Munch is being taken care of and kept safe. Munch will only head out with people he gets to know and is selective about other dogs. It’s really important to us that we have a regular crew of walkers who have got to know Munch and his quirks, and this team has never let us down!

Mat and his team have been walking our dog Millie for several months now, since we got her as a new puppy, and they are the absolute best! They are really dedicated to providing the best service and are so reliable and trustworthy. Plus they are huge animal lovers and Millie absolutely loves them. Were so grateful to Mat and his team and will be using them for years to come!

Mat and his team at The Well Heeled Dog have been walking our sweet Mini Schnauzer for over 3 years now. They are beyond caring and patient with our girl (who can be quite stubborn at times) and always make her feel loved since we arent able to be with her during the workday. His team is always extremely accommodating and on occasion when needed they will help us out with more than one walk a day or picking her up from the groomer. They go above expectations and we always can count on their support and love for each pup.

We couldn’t say nicer things about Matt and his team. They stepped in fairly immediately when we were forced to make a change from the company we had used for years and their attentiveness to dogs, professionalism and organization has been an absolute pleasure.We don’t get cute photos from our walks…why? Because Matt has a no phone usage policy and we LOVE it. We know our dog is well cared for, being watched and the focus is his walk (and getting his business done) and nothing else. Would highly recommend!

It took me years to find a dog walking service that was not only reliable, but truly understood how every dog has their own psychological make up and behavioral patterns. Since Matt Deveau and his team of professionals came into our lives, my little Frenchie has never been happier. (He blows right past me whenever Ben or Leah shows up!) My biggest concern is always the safety of my dog. Well Heeled Dog NYC gets this on a deep level and will ask all newcomers an array of questions to make sure they understand your needs and the requirements of your pet. What I especially love is how they engage with my dog. Were fortunate to have them in our lives.

Mat and his team have been walking our Corgis for years and the dogs really love their time with the team. Mat is very reliable and is always responsive if Im running late at work and the dogs need an extra walk before I get home. He has also watched the dogs for overnights if I have to travel for business. Im so thankful they dont ever have to spend time at a kennel or boarding location. Highly recommend working with the entire Well Heeled Dog NYC team!

Mat and The Well Heeled Dog have been taking care of my 5 year old Boston Terrier Andy Warhol since she was a pup. The original recommendation to try Mat was through a friend that had used him for many years for his Boxer, so I knew I was in good hands.The love affair my dog developed with Mat is sort of sublime. Maybe its his gentle caring nature, or maybe he really is a dog whisperer-- but she completely melts around him. Totally bonkers. Ive never witnessed her act that way with any other human (not even me).Ive always liked that The Well Heeled Dog is a small, nimble business thats been in operation for a very long time. Mat is still very much IN his business, so that difference is felt. And call me crazy, but the fact that he was Lou Reeds trusted dog walker (Yes, THAT Lou Reed) for many years is kind of amazing? (Hes pretty humble so would never mention it).I cant say enough good. Whether its walks or long global travels, Ive simply never had to worry about Andy in his care. And as a dog owner who loves her girl (in possibly excessive proportions), thats worth its weight in gold.

I adopted my dog Bruno in July , 2019 and reached out to Mat at The Well Heeled Dog after reading their reviews online. I was a nervous first-time dog owner and didnt really know what to expect in a dog walking service. Mat came to my home to meet me and Bruno prior to starting to work with us and then he and Rikard treated him like their own. I would always get reports from friends and neighbors who saw Bruno on his afternoon walk being loved and well cared for. I cannot recommend Well Heeled Dog highly enough. If you are in the West Village and considering a dog walking service, definitely reach out to them

Mat & his team have been walking our 2 year old Old English Sheepdog (Yogi) since August 2018. Theyve been incredible. Yogi is very sweet but not the easiest dog to handle due to her fear of noises and strangers. Knowing this, we were hesitant to use one of the bigger dog walking services since the walkers often rotate and may at times be inexperienced. Luckily, we were able to find The Well-Heeled Dog. Its been a relief knowing that our dog is in good hands. I was even happier when I learned that Yogi bonded with Mats assistant, Georgia! Beyond that, Mat & his team are prompt, trustworthy and professional - we couldnt be happier!

The best dog walking service in the West Village. Mat and his small team are extremely reliable and courteous with an obvious love and understanding of dogs. I really appreciate their attention to detail. Its also refreshing to know that Mat, as the founder, is always on site. His walkers tend to stay with him a long time which says a lot about his company and gives confidence to me as a homeowner. Highly recommended!

Ive known Mat for more than a decade and have watched him grow his business very deliberately. His professionalism sets him apart in his dedication to and respect for his clients (canine and human) as well as the care with which he selects his team members.Mat witnessed some tricky experiences I had early on with a very aggressive dog that I adopted. Mat worked magic with that dog and is excellent with all breeds and behavioral quirks. Every single dog Ive ever seen with Mat is just smitten. Mat has a gentle but firm touch and builds strong bonds with the dogs he walks and earns the trust of their owners quickly.

Mat has been walking my dog, Tilda, since I got her from Animal Haven ~6 months ago. She is very shy, at times aggressive and does not like interacting with strangers. Mat has been incredible with her! I immediately noticed she was better behaved on the leash when we go for walks, and happier when I got home from work. Mat is also very flexible, unlike some other walking services in the area, and has come through in a pinch to feed Tilda when I get caught at the office late. We are huge fans!!

We had a really hard time finding a dog walker we could trust with our beloved dog Zeke. When we found The Well Heeled Dog we were immediately put at ease! Mat is a true dog lover and Zeke took to him and Caroline immediately. They’re both not only super nice and loving with our dog but it’s also lovely when I get to see both of them! They’re always on time and their walk timeframe window is much smaller than the other dog walkers we encountered. Zeke is always SO excited to see them and comes back from his walks in a fantastic mood. I really trust both of them and this has been a great experience for us! We are moving out of the city and can’t imagine finding new walkers we will like and trust as much.

Mat is fantastic. We were lucky enough to find him during our temporary stay in the West Village. We have an 11 year old Boston Terrier named Maud and Maud fell in love with Mat the moment she laid eyes on him. He has a Boston Terrier too which really sealed the deal for us. He is ALL about the dogs - incredibly kind, attentive and sweet. Maud loved her walks with him and Mat even took extra care and thought to pair her up with another dog of similar age and temperament.You need not look any further for the best dog walker in NYC - its Mat. :-)

I knew Mat of Well Heeled Dog from around the neighborhood for ten years just from being in the neighborhood (West Village). My husband and I never really needed a walker because we had very different schedules. But our big Boxer boy Jacques got a little older and our respective businesses grew, we felt he could use the extra walk and maybe make a new four legged friend. Weve been using Well Heeled Dog now for a little over a year. Matt and his crew are great. Everyone is totally professional and always on time according to our preset schedule of walking at the same time five days a week. This is not some point and click unsustainable internet service. As in I would never get someone from TaskRabbit to walk Jacques. Each walker gets to know the dogs personally building a long term relationship which, I believe, is crucial to the service. Jacques is always so happy to see Matt (on the occasion Ive been home) and go out with other dogs. I believe walking in packs or with just one other dog and the walker is very calming and natural to our pets. Ive seen Matt with hundreds of dogs. Not one has ever barked, nipped, yanked... Matt and his crew are in total control of the walk and they have always obviously loved the dogs they work with. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
