I just had to bring my 17 week old here he was congested and they treated him with such loving care ,they made it as stressless as possible .He was given 2 medicines while he was there . When we got home within a half hour he went and ate a little and had perked up a little. His brother was happy to have him come back home. Thanks to their staff who made it easy from the minute we came through the door. Highly recommend them to take great care of your furbabies. Boston likes the doctor and the assistant except when they had to take his temperature. Thanks for helping my baby. -

Ive been bringing my dogs to Suffern Animal Hospital since 2018, and my experiences can be summed up thusly: Quality care. Compassion. Transparency. Two specific examples come to mind:(1) In 2019, an X-ray showed our lab had a partial tear to her ACL. When I asked about surgery, Dr. Sakolsky said that was an option and quoted $5,000. Based on our dogs behavior, I was hopeful she could be rehabbed at home with rest and anti inflammatory meds. Dr. Sakolsky didnt push or guilt me about the surgery and agreed it was definitely worth a shot to try rest and meds. And it worked! We saved a bundle and spared our senior girl an ultimately unnecessary surgery. Years later, when it looked like the end for our sweet girl, we met with Dr. Lessiak, whose expertise and compassion helped guide us through a terrible time.(2) Fast forward to 2024, when our hound puppy was feeling exceptionally anxious at the vet, vet tech Danielle suggested I bring him in for a happy visit, where he got to slowly warm up to the environment while getting lots of treats and praise from the entire staff (shout out also to vet tech Melody).Overall, the patience and professionalism my dogs and I have experienced at Suffern Animal Hospital is why we keep coming back, and why I recommend them. Also, I find the fees to be very reasonable, especially compared to other vets in the Bergen County area. I was once charged ~$800(!) for a routine wellness exam for my lab by a local veterinarian whose name I will not mention. But it rhymes with Shmavanaugh. -

I can’t say enough good things about Suffern Animal Hospital. The entire staff has been incredibly kind, responsive, and just genuinely good people. They’ve shown an immense amount of patience and understanding, answering all my questions and addressing my concerns with care. I’ve never felt rushed or ignored, and it’s clear that they truly care about the well-being of the animals they treat. I highly recommend Suffern Animal Hospital to anyone looking for compassionate and attentive veterinary care. -

Ill admit Im what would be considered a crazy dog mom... With that being said, Im very particular when it comes to who I choose to groom, dogsit or take care of my beloved Norwegian Elkhound, Odin. I moved to Suffern in 2019 and needed to find a new vet. At this point, Odin was already 6 and had seen the same vet in Orange County for the 5 years since we got him. I nervously tried Suffern Animal Hospital, but those nerves subsided quickly when I saw the level of care they provided him. He needed surgery in the fall of 2019 and SAH was incredible with him and us. They did a wonderful job taking care of what he needed done and allowing us to be present where appropriate to keep Odin (and us) calm during the entire ordeal. He now goes there 1x a year for his check ups/lab work and as needed if issues arise. Each time we take him, they provide him with the best care and always act in his best intrest. So long as I live in the area, I will continue to take Odin and any other animal I have to SAH! -

For a first time visit to a Veterinarian in 30 years, I was worried, so was my cat, Beezer. Nothing at all to worry about. Everyone was friendly, kind, professional, and great with animals. The price was less than I expected, also. Ill be taking him back whenever he needs.Consider me, very pleased! -

I couldn’t be happier with my choice to use Suffern Animal Hospital for the care of my puppy. The first time we walked in we were greeted by the amazing staff who are always professional, friendly and helpful. I noticed that unlike other veterinary hospitals there was no smell of animals. The office is immaculate! I have had the pleasure to meet both Dr. Lessiak and Dr. Sakolsky and am thrilled to have them taking care of my puppy. The interaction between them and Jojo warms my heart with each visit. It is obvious why they chose the profession. They are kind, loving and thorough in their examination. Jojo and I are happy to be part of the Suffern Animal Hospital family. -

Five days ago I went to the Suffern Animal Hospital with my canine B due to her licking her paws constantly causing them to become raw. Upon seeing the vet, she determined that she has some type of skin irritation and after a discussion an injectable medication was prescribed. I can’t believe the results. It was amazing, her licking and scratching subsided by about 95 %. I’m told that the shot lasts between four and eight weeks. The money spent was absolutely worth it. Thank you Suffern Animal Hospital. Tom B. -

I have an older dog not in the best shape. Dr. Jason was absolutely wonderful with Ginger. She had to perform an ultrasound guided procedure that was failed at another vet office. With Dr Jason, the procedure was a total success! She also addressed my dogs others issue with complete accuracy. With her compassionate care, Ginger was able to live for another year. Just about 2 weeks ago, it was Gingers time. Dr Jason came to the house and gently eased Ginger into sleep with care and compassion. I cant thank her enough for her kindness.♥️ -
Review 27 (2018-02-02 - Rating: 5)
Caring, thorough, kind and really good with the animals. Facility is always impeccably clean. And always willing to work with us to manage costs -- all vet services and treatments have become very expensive, but Dr French and Dr Jason are very good about stopping to speak with us to offer options. Its always our decision whether to go forward (or not) with more drastic measures. -

Review 37 (2018-09-07 - Rating: 5)
My family has been going here for our pets care for almost thirty years. If anyone says that the nurses here are abrupt, its just because this place does such a huge amount of work with so few people. Theyve been there for us through the passing of at least a dozen pets, some of accidents and some of old are or illness. I just adopted a kitten from them, and plan to continue going to them as long as I can! -

Very nice staff. They don’t have orthopedic surgeons on site and if I knew I would had taken my fur baby elsewhere. As recommended after they took an x-ray, I took my kitten with a broken leg to the Cornell University Veterinarian Hospital in Stanford, CT this Friday, as I write this review is a Sunday. They call me on Monday morning to check on Willow’s recovery. That showed me that they do care for their patients. I highly recommend and will bring back my fur babies. Note: If you suspect your baby has a broken leg, just go straight to the ER, but first make sure they have an orthopedic surgeon on site. It will save you a trip and money, but is my first time any of my pets experienced a broken leg, so lesson learned. -

Dr. French and his team have been an amazing resource for us since we adopted our cherished rescue dog 8 years ago. At our first visit, he offered a discount because she was an adopted animal! Just last week I found an abandoned kitten and they lovingly accepted her into their adoption program. SAH has a tremendous commitment not only to their clients but to the community they serve. Their long standing commitment to homeless animals should be a model for all animal hospitals! We love SAH and would recommend them to anyone! -
